Are You Sick of Being Lied to By Politicians? Vote Ron Paul. Are you sick of being lied to by Politicians? It's your fault.by John Armstrong

Are you sick of being lied to by politicians? If you really expect your favorite candidate to keep his campaign promises, then you really can't claim that you are sick these lies.
Why? In order to fulfill campaign promises, your candidate would have to break the very first promise she makes as president. What is the first promise a President makes?
It's the Oath of Office:
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
This is very similar to the Oath that Hillary Clinton, Fred Thompson, Barack Obama, John McCain, John Edwards, and Ron Paul took when they were sworn into Congress. That Oath reads:
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;..."
Ron Paul, and only Ron Paul, kept his promise. And he did it for 20 years without fail. No matter how bad it looked politically, he kept his word. Here is an example that is relevant especially in light of the racist allegations he has faced recently:
In 1999, Ron Paul voted against honoring Rosa Parks with a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony. He was the only member of Congress to vote against it. The vote was 424-1 in the House and 86-0 in the Senate. Why did he vote against it? He didn't feel he had the Constitutional authority to spend taxpayer dollars for such an honor. Since he swore to support the Constitution of the United States, voting any other way would have made him a liar. His integrity just wouldn't allow him to do it. He did offer to give $100 of his own money and challenged the rest of Congress to do the same because Rosa Parks is a personal hero of his, and he felt she deserved to be honored. The other Congress members declined to match his donation. He remarked afterward, "I guess it's easier to be generous with other people's money than it is your own."
Don't underestimate the importance of this. This isn't about money, but if you are happen to also be sick of government wasting your money, this vote is a clear indication that a Ron Paul Presidency would bring those days of wasteful spending to an end as well.
If it isn't about money, what is it about then? One word: Integrity. While other politicians give lip service to the Constitution they swore to protect, Ron Paul gives full service to keeping his word. The Constitution isn't an archaic document, it is the Contract between We the People and our Government that guarantees our inaliennable rights as citizens. If Ron Paul is willing vote against honoring someone he deeply respects with full realization of how bad it looks politically simply to keep his word, is there any reason at all to believe he wouldn't continue to keep his word as President?
Other candidates keep talking about being ready to do the job of President from Day 1. If past performance shows that they will keep their word only when it is politically convenient to do so, why should we take their word about their readiness to do the job now? Ron Paul isn't talking about being ready from Day One; he has a 20 year record proving that he is ready for that day. Depending, of course, on what the meaning of the word "is" is.
He is the only person running for President from either party who doesn't want to be President so he can "run" things or "change" things. He's running to do the job. The real job. The one he'll swear in to do January 20th, 2009 if enough Americans realize what the President's job really is. By doing his job, he will also be defending the rights and freedoms of every single American regardless of party, race, religion, creed, or belief. Not only is he the only candidate ready to do the job, he's the only candidate who seems to even understand what the real job of President is. The job every President swears to do, but quickly forgets.
If you're tired of being lied to by politicians, vote for someone who won't be forced to lie the first day on the job in order to keep the promises he made to get elected. Vote Ron Paul.

The most politically meaningless and rhetorical quote of the day:
"He is the only person running for President from either party who doesn't want to be President so he can "run" things or "change" things. He's running to do the job. The real job."
So Ron Paul doesn't want to change the constitution? He wants to keep things the same? Ron Paul wants to run things and change things.
He wants to tell the Generals in Iraq that he (an USAF flight surgeon) could do better.
He (a man from South Texas) wants to get rid of all the illegal immigrants, while at the same time promoting free trade, free travel, and good relations with everyone. You can come, you can trade, just don't give us your people.
He wants to overturn free trade agreements, because they aren't free trade. Well shoot, how else are we going to have free trade?
He wants to get the United States out of the United Nations, so that we don't have to help other nations achieve freedom.
He wants to destroy the IRS.
Need I go on? There is no such thing as a candidate that doesn't want to "run" things or "change" things. The very nature of politics is change.

Can someone else please address our fun little antagonist's claims above. I may be missing something obvious, but I do wonder if "statist" is just misinformed constantly, or if he is really a RP supporter who likes to have fun by posting contrarian views that are just a little off and watching people respond.
Statist,
It's fun to have you around; you provide some fun discussions, but the stuff you write is just a little off somehow. I really can't believe that you could so badly misunderstand such a simple article. This is my second attempt to explain this concept. I think I'll make it even simpler next time around. Eventually, I'll get something so profoundly simple that it can't be misinterpreted.
no, what you are saying is populism. It is meaningless rhetoric that Mike Huckabee engages in on a constant basis. You have to say something profound not.
Example of populism: "He is the only man in this race that knows what it is like for the poor, that knows what life is like at the bottom of the barrel. He understands the things that those special interest group owned and corporately funded politicians up in Washington don't understand. He is the only man running that knows what his job is and how to do it."
1. You say nothing on principle.
2. You say nothing about his record.
3. This is simply rhetoric that sounds all warm and fuzzy, but has the same ammount of substance as coton candy. It melts the minute that you taste it. (same comparative rhetoric)
Mike Huckabee can do this too.
"He is one of the few men running who knows what it is like to give your heart to our LORD and savior Jesus Christ. He is the only man who wants to get rid of all of the sin that goes on in this country. He is the only man in the race who seems to care about what God wants for us. Mike Huckabee is the only man running who is not afraid to admit that he talks to God."

Statist,
What are you talking about? Are you reading some other article and responding to this one? Do I need to spell this out for you?
I did mention his record, and gave an example (Rosa Parks).
I gave an example of the other candidates running who took the same Oath he did.
How does clearly stating that the job of President is to uphold the constituion, and that RP has a 20 year record showing he does this, constitute saying "nothing on principle"?
Ron "wants to get the United States out of the United Nations, so that we don't have to help other nations achieve freedom."
Statist please site one example where the UN has helped a nation (well, the people of that nation) achieve freedom. Then please explain why we need the UN to help people achieve freedom. Actually don't bother because:
I was listing the things that Ron Paul wants to do as president, that way I could show you the rhetoric was fuzzy and contradictory to all politics. I have never seen a candidate that literally said that he would change nothing. But that is what the rhetoric said.
The United Nations is a useless organization who's only mission it seems was to promote more statism by giving the Soviet Union three votes. The United Nations should be disolved in favor of a Libertarian Nations Council on Freedom that would only admit nations who guaranteed the same freedoms listed in the Bill of Rights. That way they could police the world along with us and promote liberty.
"Here is something that you will never hear a man say,"STOP SUCKING MY COCK OR I'LL BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF!""-George Carlin
Can you really force freedom? No, religion exists to supply our basic desire for tyranny. Freedom can be offered, but it must be accepted and used to be understood.
When was the last time you burned an American Flag? It is a freedom and a requirement. You are not supposed to throw "Old Glory" away in the trash, rather you are to burn it.
I agree with the Statist that you can't force freedom--so we must both agree with Ron Paul when he says that it's time for our troops to come home. As for his comment on religion, it has (or at least it should have) nothing to do with a presidential candidate, so again, we both agree with Ron Paul that the government shouldn't interfere with people's personal lives and beliefs.
If the Statist needs further proof that Ron Paul is honest, he can go to FactCheck.org, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that shows every candidate's false statements (intentional or not). Ron Paul's name doesn't appear anywhere except where it's noted that he participated in one debate or another. All of the others have been caught time and time again in misinformation and worse.
Besides, Statist, you keep ragging on Ron Paul, but I don't hear you offering his supporters a better alternative. Who should I vote for, if not Ron Paul?
Excellent article! His 20-year proven record says it all.

the-statist is a troll - ignore him, don't give him the satisfaction of referring to his ridiculous comments.
If you check all Nolan Chart postings praising Ron Paul, you see the-statist is the first to post, with ignorant , devisive and incite-full comments dissing The Next President of the United States, Dr. Ron Paul.
