Al Gore's Message to Ron Paul Supporters

With this much foresight, I might have to go watch that movie of his before I drown in melted icecaps.

I don't know exactly why I did it, but I read the entire transcript from the third Presidential Debate last night. It wasn't as exciting as the hoax letter from the supposed Ron Paul Billionaire supporter, but there was some great stuff in there that I will probably put in future articles as well. Did you know that George W. Bush actually mentioned Iraq and Weapons of Mass Destruction when asked about the Middle East? Remember, this is from a 2000 debate with Al Gore. If you are more interested in finding out how what Al Gore had to say pertains to Ron Paul supporters, wait no more my reader. Here it is:

MEMBER OF AUDIENCE: It seems that when we hear about issues of this campaign, it's usually Medicare, Social Security or prescription drugs. As a college professor, I hear a lot of apathy amongst young people who feel that there are no issues directed to them. And they don't plan to vote. How do you address that?

GORE: We've got to change it. I spend a good deal of time talking to young people, and in my standard speech out there on the stump I usually end my speech by saying, I want to ask you for something and I want to direct it especially to the young people in the audience. And I want to tell you what I tell them. Sometimes people who are very idealistic and have great dreams, as young people do, are apt to stay at arm's length from the political process because they think their good hearts might be brittle, and if they invest their hopes and allow themselves to believe, then they're gonna be let down and disappointed. But thank goodness we've always had enough people who have been willing in every generation to push past the fear of a broken heart and become deeply involved in forming a more perfect union. We're America, and we believe in our future and we know we have the ability to shape our future. Now, we've got to address one of the biggest threats to our democracy. And that is the current campaign financing system. And I know they say it doesn't rank anywhere on the polls. I don't believe that's a fair measure. I'm telling you, I will make it the -- I will make the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform bill the very first measure that I send to the Congress as president. Governor Bush opposes it. I wish that he would consider changing his mind on that. Because I think that the special interests have too much power, and we need to give our democracy back to the American people. Let me tell you why. Those issues you mentioned, Social Security, prescription drugs, the big drug companies are against the prescription drug proposal that I've made. The HMOs are against the patient's rights bill, the Dingle-Norwood bill that I support. The big oil companies are against the measures to get more energy independence and renewable fuel. They ought to have their voices heard, but they shouldn't have a big megaphone that drowns out the American people. We need campaign finance reform and we need to shoot straight with young and old alike and tell them what the real choices are. And we can renew and rekindle the American spirit and make our future what our founders dreamed it could be. We can.

It's funny to hear Al Gore talk about "a more perfect union" which are the 7-9th words in a document written by the founders he mentions.  That same document begins with "We the People." You might have heard of it before.  Ron Paul talks about it all the time.  It's called the Constitution.  Ron Paul doesn't use six of the first nine words as a stump speech; he believes in all 4543 (plus the amendments) and has upheld them for 20 years with every vote he cast.

Unfortunately, campaign finance reform obviously wasn't the answer to solve these problems.  Just as Al suggested, we finally found someone who will shoot straight with the young and old alike, and whether or not he is our torch-bearer, he is certainly the firestarter, and the American spirit has indeed been rekindled. We will make our future what our founders dreamed it could be. The nation another "honest" politician talked about at Gettysburg.  A nation conceived in liberty. That spirit that burns within us will turn into a fire that ensures that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Style has overtaken substance, just as Lincoln's nasally, accented address wasn't thought very highly of then, Dr. Paul's speeches aren't revered nationally now. Let's pledge to keep the torch burning no matter what happens.

You see, fellow Americans, this isn't the first time this battle has been fought in this country.  Every time it is reborn liberty and freedom emerge victorious.  Why would anyone believe it won't happen again? If it isn't already here, our time will come.  Let's follow Al Gore's advice and not get heartbroken no matter what happens.  When the battle heats up, I know that I'll be there; will you? Or as another author by the name of Tolkien said, "Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens."

Campaign Finance reform was an attack on free speach. Thank the Flying Spaghetti monster, that we were spared an Al Gore presidency.

What demon diety is to blame for the Bush Jr. Presidency? If I wanted somebody to grow the Federal government by 30% in 3 years, start nation building in 2 different nations, and increase the national debt by over 3 trillion dollars in under 6 years, I would have voted for a Liberal in 2000.

Well, I didn't vote for a Liberal in 2000, but we ended up with one in the Oval Office anyhow in every respect except on social issues.

Wow.  What a victory.

I'm certainly glad we had George W. to oppose the civil rights violations of the McCain-Feigngold Campaign Finance "Reform" bill. And, not only that, I'm glad we also had him to opposed government-funded prescription drug handouts. How dare anyone insinuate that we have a one-party system! We would be lost today if we didn't have Bush to keep us safe!

Do I sound a little insincere? Well, I'm as sincere as W. was on foreign policy in 2000.

No, statist, it's not pirates! The world was cooling until the early 70's but then people starting using VCRs and microwave ovens. And things starting warming up! Clearly, if we give these up, we can end Global Warming and go back to Global Cooling. Maybe even an Ice Age.

The jury is still out on DVD players but I suspect they are playing havoc with the penguins in Antarctica. Al Gore is staying curiously silent on the subject of microwave ovens. I suspect he has friends in the microwave industry. And I believe he may be part penguin. Have you seen him walk?
