Russell Means, Chief Facilitator, Provisional Government, Republic of Lakotah, issued a notice to all title insurance companies operating within the Republic of Lakotah.

"Lakotah, through its representatives, have formally withdrawn from all agreements and treaties with the United States of America. The reinstitution of our freedom and independence is found in law." Means said, "You are, by this letter, now on notice that, effective as of December 17, 2007, no transfer by a

foreign government of any interest in traditional Lakotah land will pass clear title."

Means explained, that it was not their intent to "crash the real estate market," and explained how this would help the local market.

"Since we have re-asserted our sovereignty, we have been inundated with professional, white, American refugees seeking to move to Lakotah. Smart people like freedom." Means said. "The real estate market will thrive after the American governments withdraw from Lakotah lands."

The Republic of Lakotah web site received over half a million hits in its first week of operation. People from over different 100 countries have offered support for the newly formed republic.

The legal grounds of their actions, are re-addressed in the Republic's notice to title insurance companies.

"Lakotah has reclaimed sovereignty as a nation and over its traditional lands. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties substantiate this freedom." Means said.

Means assured private land owners within the Republic of Lakotah's borders that despite being able to issue leans on privately held land, they had no plans to do so.

"We are only declaring liens on real estate held by governments foreign to the Republic of Lakotah, but not on real estate held by private parties." Means said.

The web-master for the Republic web site has already shot down an idea by a group of overly-ambitious refugees who wanted to start a "tent city" on the Illinois plains. He reminded them how cold it was in Lakotah territory during the winter.

If the Republic's first boom happens this summer, it could be huge!

The biggest draw for investors in the Republic would be its gold backed currency. Means has stated often and publicly that the republic will have a sound monetary system, backed by gold.

On The Micro Effect Bill Clade radio show Means talked about the necessity for a gold backed monetary system, and condemned the US system of "fiat" currency.

With a solid currency and a real estate boom The Republic of Lakotah may open up new opportunities long dreamed of by Libertarians.

Libertarian ideas have called for a gold backed currency since the days of Thomas Jefferson and his constant rival Alexander Hamilton who chartered the first private bank allowed to print "fiat" currency in the United States.
