After the events of last night's Michigan Republican Primary, Congressman Ron Paul is a top tier candidate within what has become a wild nomination race.
Despite little spending or campaigning in the state, less name recognition, and less free media attention, the Texas libertarian-leaning Republican virtually doubled the vote totals of assumed front-runners Fred Thompson and Rudy Guliani with 6% and well over 50,000 votes. Under the radar, Paul has quiety earned more raw votes than these rivals between Iowa and New Hampshire.
Now we have three primaries with three different winners. With Mitt Romney winning Michigan handily last night with 39%, he still holds a thick, personal, checkbook to use through the rest of the campaign. Conversely, most of his other rivals, save Ron Paul who has lead the GOP in funding in the fourth quarter with $19.5 million, are running on campaign funding fumes. Paul's funding strength has come from a whopping 160,000 individual contributors ... far more than any of the rest of the top tier. There is another special day scheduled in his supporters funding blitz on January 21st ... Dr. Martin Luther King Day. http://www.freeatlast2008.com/.
Unlike most of his rivals, Paul has taken his record-breaking, "money bombs" and headed out for the Wild West ... Nevada, for the first ever, GOP, caucus. Paul currently leads in the small delegate state of Alaska. Furthermore, none of the GOP candidates have polled above 20% in the delegate-rich state of California which will award delegates by Congressional district. Paul is currently polling at 8% in California.
With a hardcore, grassroots, volunteer, base coupled with a fractured party and hefty campaign coffers, Ron Paul, in the strangest of political races, has as good a chance as most any of them.

I'd love to see an article written the would show the math of how much money each campaign has spent then show how much each vote cost them. Example Romney spent 20 million to get 100k vote so he spent $$$ per vote. compared to the other choices.

I asked a person I know if they would vote for Ron Paul and here is what she said. " I won't vote for him, he is too radical." Radical? It is obvious that the picture painting of Fox and it's associates to paint him as a radical have gotten to her. It is sad to hear a man, who has and continues to fight for our rights is called radical. He sticks to the Constitution and does right by it and us. Radical? She said that she would vote for Hillary becasue she wants change and a woman in the house is change. When I asked her for other reasons and what views she agreed with her on, she changed the subject. Sad, sad, sad. I refuse to vote for a man or woman because of gender, race or religion. I want a person who will defend our civil liberties and that is RON PAUL!
How refreshing it is to hear a Presidential candidate (Dr. Paul) actually speak truthfully in regard to the sad state of affairs we've been living with for the last...well, 95 years now! The odds may be stacked against him in winning the GOP nomination, but one can only pray that the people of this country will soon awaken to his patriotic message of liberty and freedom. Should (by the grace of God) Dr. Paul be elected President of this country, the entire world would in short order under-go a positive transformation unlike anything it's ever seen before, and the citizens of this country would for once know what our founding fathers had envisioned for us.
GO RON PAUL in 2008, and may GOD bless and make the way before you!
Unfortunately, the large majority do not care about the issues. There is no doubt that Ron Paul has the most intelligent stances on all of them. However, he needs the charm of a Huckabee to win over those vast sea of morons who judge their president by his humor or likeability. It's extremely unfortunate and disappointing, but it seems almost impossible to fight this massive media blacklist and a stupified voting populace.

Hey Martin, now you know what Winston Churchill meant when he said; "The best argument against Democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter." I tried to talk to my sons 20 something friends last night about Ron Paul and the various issues. Next time I think I'll just go and watch "American Idol".......much more intellectually stimulating. LOL
NH, you are right. But there is a strategy that everyone can take to secure the vote. See peoplespresident.net and click the blog and also ronpaulvotecount.com. Protect the vote with an affidavit. Get out your video cameras. See the blog.
