The "So-Called" Conservatives

The conservative case for Ron Paul.

Remember back a few months when the big argument going on between the Republican presidential candidates was who is the true conservative? Well, get ready for it again. I can already see this becoming the big fight between Mitt Romney and John McCain. Mr. Romney is already making his pre-emptive attack by using Michigan as a stepping stone and indicating he is the true fiscal conservative. Romney is more conservative than McCain and will win this battle.

However, I know that most Americans are missing someone who is better when is comes to conservative behavior. Before I tell you who it is, let me make my case.

John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson, and Rudy Giuliani can't possibly follow through with their promise to be fiscal conservatives. Why? War.

All of these candidates are for continuing the war in Iraq and have committed to keep a military presence in the Middle East and other countries around the world. As we all should know, military operations are expensive. In many cases the monies spent are spent inefficiently. I can see this in my own line of work where I'm involved in supplying replacement parts for military equipment. The orders I see coming in are, in almost all cases, on a "rush" basis and therefore the cost is of no consequence. This behavior is not fiscal conservatism. This is one small example of a much bigger problem. There are many reports that contractors in Iraq are overcharging and in some cases flat out lying about their costs....costs which are passed on to the American taxpayers. Again, this behavior is not fiscal conservatism.

When will we realize that these behaviors cannot be continued?

Ok, ok, most of you have probably figured out by now that I am making the case for Congressman Ron Paul. He realized before the war in Iraq that a war could not be maintained due to the eventual lack of funds. At this point, we are now borrowing money from foreign countries to continue the war. What does this mean? We are broke. That is the cold hard reality. Now pay attention because the next step is this: foreign contries will stop lending money to us and we either realize that we have to come home, or we make it worse and go down in defeat. So, what makes the most sense to you?

My message to all my fellow Americans is this: Please put two and two together and realize that we are headed for defeat economically. We need someone who can truly follow through and be an effective fiscal conservative. If you believe in fiscal conservatism, you owe it to yourself and your families to carefully consider voting for Ron Paul.

Freedom isn't cheap. Especially when you are buying it for the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, so that the rest of the middle east can window shop with Dubai, Qatar, and Kuwait and see how good it is. Expect the Iraqis to repay this debt with exclusive oil sales to the United States and the United Kingdom.
