To Peggy Noonan: What “minority viewpoint”? At this point, many writers have expressed their outrage at these unending wars and the war in Iraq and we do so in such futility. We keep trying to reach into the hearts and minds of these saber rattlers without any success. We are tired of the rivers of blood and the oceans of tears that has become our modern day world.by Mary MacElveen

In the past, I gave little credence to any opinion espoused by Peggy Noonan especially when she gushed at President Bush’s speech at the RNC convention in 2000; but I realize that others do pay attention to her.
But, when she said this of Congressman Ron Paul as he debated his fellow Republican candidates,“When a thousand Republicans are in a room and one man of the eight on the stage takes a sharply minority viewpoint on a dramatic issue and half the room seems to cheer him, something's going on.” As cited in a World Net Daily article, I did sit up and take notice.
In order to hear those cheers she spoke of, I did find this edited clip so you can bear witness to her opinion that something is going on in this country.I found it to be remarkable and do find that something’s going on in this country that our presidential candidates and even elected officials are not clued into.That is directed towards both political parties.As one hears these cheers, one would think they were reacting to a rock concert.All that was missing were lit cigarette lighters.
I would like to know what “minority viewpoint” she is speaking of.Is Noonan trapped within the bubble of Washington, D.C.? Is she is not hearing what the rest of America is saying?I do not think that this is a minority viewpoint, but a feeling that something is bubbling under the surface and people will react when someone like Ron Paul at least acknowledges our gut feeling.
In my emails and talks with everyday Americans, I am receiving rash reactions to the indifference espoused by many of our elected officials and these presidential candidates.They want to be heard since they know all too well through their own personal experience or reading it on the Net or mainstream media that they are not being served well.At times, I get the feeling in my chats with everyday Americans that they feel beaten down and say, “Well what are you going to do since no one listens?” I have had that said to me by many people no matter what side of the political aisle they come from.I do not get a sense of hope, only despair.
As Katrina victims have all but been ignored by these politicians, they are crying out and there should be an FDR ‘New Deal’ for the victims of this devastating storm and others such as the flooding in the heartland of America and that tornado that wiped out the town of Greenville, Kansas.In a faxed letter to Bay Buchanan who is another political pundit, she all but slapped these Katrina victims in the face when she said, “I think Katrina has worn its welcome.- I think the American people are tired of it." Let her say that to CNN’s Anderson Cooper who witnessed bodies float passed him as he covered this important story.More importantly, let her say that to a Katrina victim.I have heard them and have even written of their plight.
As we commemorate the sixth anniversary of 9/11 tomorrow, we did indeed launch a ‘New Deal’ in reaction to this attack in which many died as a result.I would like to know if anyone would say of the 9/11 victims that the American people are tired of them? The only thing is; we targeted the wrong people, namely Iraq.As we launched this ‘New Deal’ innocent Iraqis received a raw deal.In that Republican debate, only Ron Paul cites that.So as these Republican candidates continue to say ‘war on terror’ over and over, the people do know Iraq was the wrong way to go.I feel it was that they were reacting to.They just needed someone to at least say it.To these Republican candidates; how many times must we tell you that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11?Why are you not listening?It only became the central front on fighting terrorism because the past Republican majority, your Republican president along with cowardly Democrats made it so.Got it? Good!
I once wrote a column which was picked up by the Consortium News titled, Pundits No, Everyday Citizens, Yes and I do think it would serve these pundits and politicos to start listening to the concerns of everyday Americans.Quite frankly it disturbs me as I turn on these various news shows to see the same pundits interviewed over and over and no where do I find the voice of everyday Americans.
While I am not well known, I hereby thrown down the gauntlet and dare these mainstream news shows to let me appear on-air to speak to the American people.
Vox Day opined in his World Net Daily column of Paul, “It is still unlikely that he will win the nomination of a party which has proven it doesn't deserve him,” While he opines that the GOP doesn’t deserve him, ‘we the people’ do or at least someone who is willing to tell us the God’s honest truth.We at least need someone who is willing to tell the truth when it comes to our bungled foreign policy that has zapped this country both morally and fiscally.Many candidates will promise you the world, but since we are fiscally strained, perhaps we do need a candidate that is willing to level with the American people saying, life will be hard in front of us, but we will do this together.Do not paint a rosy picture where none is to be had.
It truly boggles the mind how some can settle for the pabulum reverberated over and over by many of the top-tier candidates.Yet, those are the people that the media wishes us to be paying attention to.
This country was formed for all of us to be free and independent thinkers and more importantly doers.I feel in hearing the reaction to Paul’s answers that feeling was coming across.I would like to challenge every single American to think for yourselves and not let the mainstream media guide you in making your selection in the primaries.
If you are quick to anger how the mainstream media lifts some candidates over others, let’s say we pay them back by choosing candidates who has not been given nearly enough coverage.But, it requires homework on your part.This is where I still feel the people have their say.Just imagine if you will a candidate that has received top-polling by many well known poll taking outlets such as Gallup and the people upset these poll takers.Call it an intrinsic sense of liberty, but one that would make me smile.I may even giggle a bit.Okay, a lot!
To help you with your homework, I have included in this piece the web links to all of the declared presidential candidates from both parties.I only feel it will aid you in your research to see who best represents your values.Hey, it’s only our country at stake.
Democratic Candidates Listed in Alphabetical Order
I feel we must break the cycle of unending wars as some have come to call this war on terror.In fact Ron Paul has basically said “we should mind our own business”.Centuries ago, both England and France fought the Hundred Years’ War and while it was devastating at that time, the difference is this modern-day world has nuclear weapons and we just keep on building them.Why?Oh yes, we have got to pay those defense contractors who are in the pockets of many of our elected officials.
If you wish to view an eye-opening BBC documentary, then one only has to view Why We Fight.Part One, Part Two, Part Three, and Part Four.Do you need anymore proof as to who many of these candidates are listening to and elected officials?
Somehow we must end this cycle of violence that has taken the lives of the most innocent amongst us. The United States of America cannot involve itself in wars without end or it will surely go the way of the Roman Empire.Think of that when any candidate saber rattles.Who are they listening to?I will leave you to draw your own conclusion.

Yes, Ms. Noonan, something is going on and ‘we the people’ demand answers and more importantly action coming from our presidential candidates and our elected officials.
