Ron Paul Needs A New Strategy

The old tradional way of American politics works great for Rudy Giuliani and John Edwards but not for the Ron Paul Revolution.
by Abelardo Arias

Ron Paul needs a new strategy. We all know it. Sure, some votes in New Hampshire were not counted, like the Town of Sutton. But we've got a bigger problem than some voting irregularities or MSM blackout.

The Ron Paul campaign is playing like little leaguers in the World Series. It's time to shake up the staff and hire real political strategists, local GOTV experts, media consultants and public relations gurus. Sound like politics? Yeah, that's the point.

Ron Paul needs to change his strategy. Sitting back and waiting for manna to fall from heaven just isn't going to work.

If any of you have not seen "Amazing Grace" the story of William Wilbeforce and his battle to end slavery in the British Empire, watch it ASAP! This movie compelled me to get off the couch and join the Ron Paul Revolution. It certainly wasn't the quality of the official campaign TV commercials!

The turning point of the movie is when year after year of FAILURES in the British Parliament to abolish or even SLOW DOWN the horrible kidnapping of human lives from Africa, Wilbeforce and his "kook", "fringe" supporters decide to do what their opponents never expected.

They "CHEATED". And so should we.

Now, I DON'T mean we should do anything illegal or fraudulent! That would be wrong. I just mean we need to break rules of expectation, normalcy, tradition and reality. The MSM doesn't want us to play in their sandbox? Fine. We'll make our own. The Ron Paul Campaign wants to count their millions instead of spending it? Fine. What could be more in keeping with the Ron Paul Revolution than breaking the rules of convention? Does the Blimp ring a bell?

We, the grassroots supporters need to play hardball. No more Mr. Nice Guy. We need to move beyond the nice DVD idea. Let's take it and make it a Multimedia-Bomb. How?

Let's make one DVD for liberal-leaning anti-war people. Stress all the points that we agree on and expose Obama and Clinton as pro-war lackeys.

Make another DVD for conservative-leaning pro-tax cut people. Expose Huckabee and McCain as socialist monsters. Save the Obama-nator for the end.

Make another DVD for evangelical Christian zombies (yes, I'm an evangelical myself and can open the Bible to show that the other candidates are wolves in sheep clothing). Expose Clinton as a fake Bible-carrying socialist, McCain as an out-of-control Howard Dean clone and Romney as a faith-bending monstrosity.

Make another DVD for African-American and Hispanic voters to show Obama will not end the racist War on Drugs and will not bring ALL the troops home, yes even the non-Caucasians and immigrants working on their citizenship. Let's make the fascist-leaning, pro-Giuliani "New Republic" regret their juvenile smear job. There is no greater friend to human diversity and civil rights than true Liberty.

Sound underhanded? Well it is. The mud is out. Real lives are being lost in the Middle East, military and civilian. Our dollar is really plummeting. Our liberties mean little to the power-brokers and lobbyists in Washington.

Are you as sick and angry over the NH primary as I am? 20 Million dollars we gave the Official campaign - barely even used! Disgusting! Shake up the staff! This is not a back-home Texas congressional race. This is a national effort in a crucial time in our nation's history.

One small consolation is that Huckabee only received 1 delegate from New Hampshire and Giuliani got zero. So the score is Ron Paul 2 delegates, Mayor Benito none.

With a population of more than 300 million people, the United States has a voting age population of more than 220 million people. (See United States Elections Project). Of that figure just over half will actually make it to polls based on 2004 results. To win a general election you only need to convince half of those who will actually vote. That's roughly about 65-70 million voters.

Do you want to know how bad we did in New Hampshire? According to an MSNBC Poll 38% of the sheep who voted GOP and strongly disapproved of the Iraq War chose "100 Year" McCain. Another whopping 49% who slightly disapproved of the war voted for the victorious warmonger. Only 25% out of that pool of wolf bait thought that issues were more important than leadership qualities in a presidential candidate. Are you getting the picture here?

The Ron Paul campaign failed to educate the GOP and independent voters of New Hampshire that McCain and Obama are part of the problem in the Iraq war and not the solution. The campaign did not attack one of the crucial issues in America today. Instead it focused on immigration and going after "less evangelicals in the Granite State" Huckabee. This strategy blew up in their face. Add the Sean Hannity chasing incident and the Bill Clinton v. 9/11 Truther incident and things weren't looking so good in Taxachusetts' northern neighbor.

Now keep in mind that we vastly misunderstood New Hampshire's rugged individualism. They are in fact more pro-war liberventionists than anti-empire libertarians. 63% of those who voted GOP approved the Iraq War (See MSNBC Poll).

"Live Free and Send Your Sons To Die" should be the new state motto. No thanks, you can keep your brand of liberty.

We should be winning at least 2/3 if not more of all anti-war voters in the GOP primaries. In New Hampshire we only got between 16-18% of that anti-war sentiment. That's worse than finishing fifth place in my opinion. This is clear proof that we did not sell our message of freedom.

Ron Paul needs to attack and go on the offensive. Take the fight to the other candidates. Finish off Giuliani with another reading list and a collector's copy of the Constitution to collect dust in his home library. Attack the front-runner in each primary state and expose them as war-tax, rabid war planners looking to grow government in schools, homes, churches, health centers and rifle clubs. It's all true!

I have not lost hope in Ron Paul or more importantly the Ron Paul Revolution. I am doubling my resolve to make a stand for Liberty, for myself, my family and my children. I and many others will not go silent into that good night.

Despite the racial smears, the accusations of tin-foil conspiracies, the MSM blackouts and the old-timers who can tell you how many times they voted GOP but couldn't explain to you the Constitution if their country's future depended on it, I'm in for the "Long Haul Revolution".

What can you do to help? Here are some Revolutionary Ideas:

  1. Digg this article and pass it on to others!.
  2. Contact the Ron Paul Campaign and ask them for new campaign leadership. Put that money to work!
  3. Write me to discuss implementing guerilla-marketing plans for bold, QUALITY DVD's that won't bore people to tears over money policies they don't understand but cuts to the issues they care about.
  4. Take time to go to one Ron Paul Meetup group this week.
  5. Donate what you can to these grassroots folks who have the right idea: http://www.operationbroadcastfreedom.com .
  6. Get on forums and blogs and start coming up with your own great grassroots ideas. Heaven knows it won't be coming from the official campaign!

You bring up interesting points. Perhaps we need to "dumb it down" a bit in certain areas. "We" know Ron Paul is the best candidate and why, but we need to speak to "them". I like your idea of target specific CD's. I don't necessarily say fire the existing campaign people, maybe bring in some new stategists who have the ability to get the message out via the media using the TARGET SPECIFIC CD's etc. I think we need to evolve rather than promote in fighting. Unleash the creativity of the supporters...have a contest for a 30 second National TV ad. Narrow it down to the top 5 and have a vote on line. That alone should get some attention. Then run the ad. Maybe Promote this idea online and take out ads in movie theaters about the ad contest. Ron Paul's message is sound, that is not the problem. We are trying to educate voters who will never be as passionate about freedom as many of us are. We are fighting several fronts. First brand awareness, then the not so subtle media put downs or blackouts and admittedly some of us are "fringe looking". The media loves to show us at our enthusiastic best...that can be positive or negative depending on the spin...let's get some "normal" looking people to rally with us. I might cut my hair later today :) The fringe looking part shouldn't matter, but it does to the people we are trying to attract...new supporters. I am also concerned with the people who "would vote for him if he had a chance to win"...dumb I know, but still something that must be overcome. It is disappointing to many of us, that an intellectual light weight like Huckster is stealing Ron Paul's ideas, but that could play into our hands if we can point that out more. Let's turn our disappointment into resolve people. This fight is NOT over, our freedom is at stake. Do NOT give up. Take a deep breath and fight on, the alternative is not acceptable. I am from NH, I believe. Live free or die.

My sentiments, exactly! I'm not looking for scapegoats, but we don't have time for a long learning curve. Good intentions and hard work aren't enough. We need presidential political experience to win. We out-gun the opposition in every other category. The under-qualified management should step aside.

I must say this is one of the best post-NH articles I've read. It also gives some analysis of what happened in NH - something which very few ventured into. I am a political campaigner at a European (and national) level, and my field has a lot to do with educating people (or, more squarely, waking them up to the reality of EU totalitarianism). The best results come through networked education. I believe Ron Paul's campaign needs to venture into better explanations of HOW freedom works; WHY centralised power does not work for the people... ALSO, and very important I believe, we (I say 'we' cos I definitely feel part of this Revolution) we need to explain to leftists/progressives (or liberals as Americans call them) that RP and Freedom is not about capitalism. We need to explain how Big Government and Big Business collude against the middle class and the poor and that the corporate class will have less power if Government is not big enough to give them such power. We need to explain WHAT this power is, How it works... there's still a lot to do in capturing the minds of the millions on the left. The new left needs to fight for freedom as the earlier socialists did... (I come from the left and understand their mind set - the left needs to understand that social democracy is nothing but Big Government controlling our lives with our own money at the behest of the globalists and the big corporations). And we need to explain WHY big government is inefficient, wasteful and counterproductive. But I really think that the name recognition stage is over - people KNOW about Ron Paul already - those who don't know yet would not be expected to go out and vote anyway. So it is not just Who is Ron Paul, but what are his issues and why we need them (and why progressives on the left need not fear his libertarian stance). The general problem is that most people are not interested in being educated and you cannot pour this education down their throats. So strategies are important. And many progressives are ready to be educated, unless they dismiss RP without venturing into the details, simply cos he comes from the conservative right ("conservative right" still sounds "bad" to my subconscious mind as "socialism" sounds bad to you - but with the left do NOT use the word "socialist" disparagingly cos you'll lose most of them immediately). Finally, Ron Paul needs a set of stinging questions for him to push onto other candidtaes during debates and elsewhere. These are specific questions to specific candidates. McCain has to explain his 100-year concept and also explain where he's gonna get the money for it... taxes? borrow from abroad (no more of that, they'll be selling soon), or, more likely, print the money... tell us exactly Mr McCain. Whatever happened in New Hampshire, we learned one thing for sure: the flock is still uneducated. It still follows well-known personalities in droves. Smashing the credibility of those personalities is crucial. The spirit of the times is with us. There IS an air of freedom that is contagious and that is permeating the minds. The internet has saved us. Time is NOT against us anymore.

Don't you guys get it! The power at be are CHEATING and VOTE FIXING! The only strategy that would fix that is a team to monitor the voting to make sure it is done correctly.

This is how they planned to remove Ron Paul as a threat,  just kill our vote for him in the polls and in the voting booth. They have controlled the polls since Die bolt came to be after Florida a big bunch of nothing to move us to electronic voting.

I am sorry if you do not understand but it is very obvious that the New Hampshire vote was fixed. This is just like so many thing we do not understand we all just put our heads back into the sand and say OH WELL...WHAT CAN WE DO..We can raise hell and go down with a fight It will be a hell of  a fight that  just might changes thing a little. If not so what we tried.

A new strategy a new blimp all of the votes in the world will do no good it they control the count. Like Joseph Stalin said “The only vote that counts is the one how counts the vote”

Do you think they are not as smart as Stalin? Do  you think they are not as bold as Stalin? These are the same ones that put him into power and kept him there.

Thanks for the great comments, everyone! Very encouraging.

David, I agree with you on the seriousness of vote fraud. At this time, I have not seen enough evidence to say the NH vote was entirely tampered with. Certainly ommitting 31 RP votes in Sutton is alarming! I know there are efforts to raise money for a recount which would cost $65K.

But in the meantime we are still dealing with a vast population that still says: Ron Paul Who?

We have so many talented Ron Paul Revolutionaries that can come up with Mac based videos and DVD's in no time. I don't have the technical know-how for that but I can offer to help write, edit, brainstorm etc.

You have the right idea! We need to start thinking like them. I love the movie Amazing Grace. Maybe I need to watch that again! So should everyone. Ron Paul has been fighting for years, just like in the movie. Now, lets help him finish the race! I am up for the DVD idea. Also, several people in meet-up groups said that they have come across older people who were almost in tears when they found out that there was someone actually running who wanted to live by the Constitution! Lets finish this, the right way, strong and united! We knew they would fight us harder and harder. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? The hare was so sure that he was the best because he was the fastest, and that pride was his downfall! He fell asleep. Then the tortoise won with his slow and stedy pace! In the Patriot they won by using the eneminies pride against him. We see it happen over and over again. It's time for change! Lets start over today! Teresa

Let's work this DVD BLAST idea and arm the campaigners and grass roots supporters with something to help educate. Why not put a big screen tv in the front "main street" windows of Ron Paul campaign offices and play the DVD's so sidewalk folks can have a glimpse of freedom ? Aligning our "freedom message" with other freedom causes is a good way to gain support. In these DVD's we should have simple charts or explanations that show Ron Paul's FAVORABLE positions and his oppositions UNFAVORABLE positions. I agree with an earlier post, that yes McCain needs to explain his 100 years comments in the context of a question that asks how much that would cost, in devalued dollars and human life while at the same time the 50 plus year Korean occupation cost is provided. What about tickers in the campaign office windows that tell how many American soldiers have died as well as Iraqi civilians. We should also have tickers that count the deficit and each Americans portion of that debt...put this info out there!

It's my opinion that Dr. Paul should take the matching funds and use them to run ads clarifying his record against those running against him.

He needs to get negative by pointing out the tax-hikes and horrible voting records of he other candidates - as well as their flip-flopping on many issues.

By casting doubt on their performances as politicians, Ron Paul would be shining light on his principled record.

And as the others would confront Paul on his tactics, this would give the Congressman more time in the press. Dirty Laundry... it works.

(I am trying to get through with that message for several

times.)

It might be of interest to have a look at Germany's economic

history after 1945, after Hitler. The guy in charge as minister

of economics from 1948 onwards was Ludwig Erhard, very

well remembered in Germany and elsewhere.

I know it might seem odd and strange. But have a look at:

 www.econlib.org/library/Enc/GermanEconomicMiracle.html

It gives a very proper and lucid account of that economic

period. The thing is: Erhard and Ron Paul have quite a bit in

common, there are differences in the differences, in details,

but overall, both have a lot in common.  Surprising as it may

be at first.

search words:

+germany economic miracle+

+ludwig erhard+

Just in case, (ever since Hitler is spooking around anyhow):

an excellent account of that financial / economic period is:

Adam A Tooze: Wages of Destruction, 2006, Allen Lane/

Penguin UK; over 800 pages. (The Hitler and war period ended in complete national bankruptcy, the Reichsmark, the

money lost its value on the street and had to be abolished,

the govt debts left were liquidated (the regime resorted to

borrowing rather than direct war taxes because of the latter would have been unpopular) and the Reichsbank, the central

bank of that time got abolished. (The Bundesbank got

established as late as 1957, with a completely different legal

status that gave it independence, to make it immune to

political pressure - to finance inflationary policies by printing

money for instance.) The book got some misleading reviews

ie, talking only about how Hitler wanted to take on the USA.

In fact, Tooze gives a nice account throughout how the regimes financed the war - they were permanently short of

everything, the ridiculous bureaucracy (extreme!), and so forth.

Targeting segmented audiences is alright, but all his issues should be readily available to review as well.

The vote fraud is a real threat to all americans.  Please support the NCEL lawsuit and even sign the moveon.org online petition to require paper ballots.

The National Clean Elections Lawsuit is in all 50 states.  If successful, it will require the states to use paper ballots, which would be stored, and counted in public.  This would honor your constitutional right to know your vote was counted.

Good article.  I have doubts about Ron Paul's chances but none about the potential of this movement in the next decade. One thing we need to do is set up a much better national-to-local organizational database that can replace these meetups in a federated organizational structure.  In order to "organize" we need "organs", which means at least a tree-like structure or a directed graph of roles and responsibilities, individuals and social hubs.  We also need to know, long term, who is the "Mises scholar" type and who is the "passionate but otherwise less informed street activist" types.  So, we must gauge people's degrees of understanding of the issues and figure out who has organizational and leadership skills, provide instructional guides that draw from Mises.org and Lew Rockwell's site.  As a Long Haul Revolution we need to be planning a 2010 congressional assault and try to put 50-100 people into office at the federal level, and 2500-5000 people at the state levels, as an initial push.  That means we need a full time group to track votes in congress and in our local offices and figure out who's breaking their oath to follow and defend the constitution and take them down.

We also need to contextualize some of these party platforms Paul has laid down, so that people can see how ending the department of education (as an example) along with the IRS would mean more state-level financial support of education and thus, MORE money to local schools, not less.  Paul, bless his soul, hasn't been selling these ideas as well as he could.

So, in the immediate future, I agree with you--changeup his campaign staff and start investing that loot, or I'll find it tough to give him more.  But we need to lay the foundations today if we want this movement to live beyond July.

Keep your eyes on the prize!  Even though we can get discouraged by the results of the Primary elections, we have to remember that the name of the game is going to be the delegates each candidate receives.  This is going to be a brokered convention because of the large number of candidates in the race.

We are working hard, here in Missouri, to get those delegates for Ron Paul. We are sponsoring an informational meeting--The Ron Paul-a-thon--in Mountain View, MO, on January 28, 5:00 p.m., at the Community Center, to get Paul's message of freedom and liberty out to the people.  Please join us if you're in the neighborhood.

Excellent reflection and future strategy. You need to be pro-active, inspired, redouble efforts but also be smart and creative. I want to provide a few ideas for brainstorming for this crucial election:

Dr. Paul need a strong, dynamic, charismatic and smart PR manager that can explain the message in an easy way for the average voter to understand. The ads about Dr. Paul is a good intro. How about judge ANdrew Napolitano, who has endorsed RP or someone comparable?

Use freeminds tv (in NH, they are nationwide) and also comparable online TV to get message out.

I might add also include Asian minorities (Chinese, Indian, Korean - especially for CA etc. and how a Paul presidency will affect them positively. (Cultural exchange).

  - Stress how freedom would mean a greater and stonger community life for those who wish and develop their identity stronger AND how the freedom-message will bring all Americans together and enhance harmony and progress.

Ron Paul could perhaps - at a certain stage - also list the names of a few possibilities that may serve in a future cabinet (diverse group of specialists, representing possibly also members of the Libertarian Party, Democratic Party as well as Independents and of all major racial and ethnic groups.

Do research on specific state, e.g. the different groups and targets and focus on specific issues, for instance in Michigan there are a lot of workers, who suffer from the housing and job "crisis", so the economy, health care and possibly immigration may be important to them. There are also a large group of Reformed Churches there, I have heard. For them, apart from issues like abortion, school prayer, the erosion of social and family values, also the war in Iraq should be made high priority. NH is not so religious. Google "church" and "Iraq war" and will see both the Reformed and other Protestant Churches and the Catholic Church (Episcopal in the US?)  leaders have specifically comdemned the war. This should be made a priority, to vote according to their christian conscience and will help get the "christian vote" away from Huckabee (Note: Personally I am also a protestant and say this out of principle, but it can play a politicla role also to get votes). Also those that were for the war initially, should be targeted and persuaded:

Check out new movie" No end in sight: by Charles Ferguson  about Iraq war fraud and that only 6 people decided about it, without being to Iraq at all! There is also a youtube short video. Use this as part of antiwar people (and also those that supported it, but eyes now opened).

McCain could be a main target: apart from 100 year statement, he should ALSO be confronted with his statement on Meet the Press that even if the US knew there were NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, he would still have decided to bomb Iraq!

There is also a website of Vietnam veterans against him, that has not endorsed any other candidate, but is critical of him.

Hope this helps? Will email more ideas later.

The problem as I see it is that people don't really know Ron Paul and his message isn't getting through the dense fog of BS. that the voters have been consuming for years. Even when I discuss Ron Paul's platform, I am sometimes shocked that they can't understand the significance of the monetary policies of the US. I think we need to dumb down and run adds that are on the current consciousness of the US.

"Todays politicians are like fastfood restaurants. They look and taste good and but ultimately are junk food delivered for mass consumption.  Just look at obesity in the US."

Above is an idea for running an add campaign. I am sorry I find the ignorance of voters very disgusting and I really think we should hit them over the heads with fastfood type adds.

I couldn't agree more with Bob C.

Perhaps we need to "dumb it down" a bit in certain areas. "We" know Ron Paul is the best candidate and why, but we need to speak to "them".

I really like the way Dr. Paul began talking more about transition programs because originally the idea of such a sudden change was frightening to me.  My support for him began when he started elaborating on this transition aspect more.  I think that there are others who may feel the same way.

Also, all this talk about the Constitution sounds kind of old and dusty to some.  You could talk about the concepts and changes that need to occur without that constant emphasis.  People want to know they are going to be economically secure in the years ahead and they want the war to end.  They are thinking "practically"   and not "philosophically."

I also thought his ads were lame and disappointing.  They seemed low budget to me.  So, I'm with you on the changes that you presented in your article.  Finally someone is coming up with some clear direction.  Well said!

I think we should create a TV ad that is a Puppit show. All of the rest of the Candidates are puppets. Big heads, funny faces. Then they could all be singing a song that says something like, "I want to be like Bush... I am more like Bush than you." something like that.

Then at the end, it could say, "Do you really want another Bush? ... Vote Ron Paul."

I guess I just think it is funny that they all clammer to be like Bush and fight over who loves Bush most. With his low approval ratings that doesn't seem smart, but it seems even more dumb not to use it to our advantage.

Let me know what you think? It would be funny... maybe a Superbowl ad?

It hurts to say it, but like most of you above, I need to say it: The official campaign ads are LAME. They are especially weak and unexciting compared to so many of the creative things that the volunteers have displayed - like the current LEGO ad.

But I don't think DVD's are the answer. Rather I would donate money to flood the airways with fun, informative, provocative 30 second commercials.

And yes, they need to name names. The track records of the other candidates indict them of High Crimes against the Constitution.

I sent a note off to the official campaign suggesting that the "4000 babies, flight surgeon" ad be replaced with something like "Ron Paul voted against the war. Ron Paul wants to bring all the troops home from everywhere."

Ron is a nice guy. Everyone can see that. The campaign does not need to advertise that. They need to focus on the hard core issues.

But whatever "we" do we cannot give up.

If Not Ron NOW! Who? When?

Contrary to what the media would have you believe so they can sell their ad spots and try to influence the elections, NH was just a skirmish. Calm down.

Now that we got Sean Hannity's attention, maybe we can get him to listen to the truth. 9/11 truthers are disenfranchised Americans. Expect all of them to join us.

There is nothing wrong with the people in the Ron Paul camp. They will not desert us like the people who you would bring in if the election is not won. Don't try to run a movement like a campaign. The movement will continue to grow and survive even if we don't win the election. Unlike the other campaigns, it will live on. Think long term.

Great article! Few thoughts....Alarming to me how many people immediately jumped to the conclusion of a rigged NH election, when little concrete evidence has been presented besides Sutton. Makes us look like amateurs and kooks to a public that is not generally informed about voter fraud. Yes, it needs to be addressed. But, if we are to win over people from the mainstream, it needs to be handled with EVIDENCE and WISDOM. Wilberforce is a good model. What led Wilberforce's team to victory was that they 1) were championing a cause that God was behind, 2) they laid down their lives to fight a life-long battle, and 3) they received WISDOM from heaven about how to win within a corrupt system. In short, they outlasted and outsmarted their enemy. What they did was LEGAL. They didn't actually cheat, resort to violence, or mudslinging. Once you walk down those paths, you have separated yourself from God and alienated many people of conscience. Remember, Wilberforce had to both *educate* and *convict* the public that their current practice of slavery was wrong. You can expose the platforms and practices of other candidates without slinging mud. Have you ever noticed how many reporters try to get RP to make a disparaging comment about a fellow candidate, and that he NEVER engages with them? Smart fellow walking in the restraint of true character. Now, if you can create DVDs and/or TV ads that illuminate within the bounds of integrity, THAT will get people's attention and set you apart from the entanglements the MSM has fallen prey to. One last thought: Christian support behind Huckabee is substantial. Many Christians blindly stand behind him just because of his conservative social positions, but they haven’t dug into his positions on other issues. RP, on the other hand, can trumpet his voting record on abortion and home schooling, while also offering conservative fiscal/economic policies. Both Liberty and the Constitution are rooted in the Bible. Show Christian voters how Huckabee’s socialist, globalist, big tax, big government leanings are unbiblical, laid out with scriptural support, and you will begin opening their eyes. However, Ron’s freedom stance toward gay marriage is an obstacle to be overcome before Christians pro-family groups will support him. Notice RP is a Christian, too, but he NEVER uses it for political advantage. Instead, he LIVES his faith. Thanks for being defenders of Liberty!

Ron Paul is a brilliant man. I would not be too quick to judge his ability to run a campaign. He has a lot of money, and true to his message he will not waste a dollar of it. Give this time.

At what point do you just accept the fact that americans arent interested in reality. (Except reality tv.) There is every indication that we are completely controlled by the elite, and our economy is being destroyed by design, just like the soviet union. There is only about 5% of the population that actually knows what's going on, and Ron Paul has most of them already. The american revolution was won by this 5%. It's never going to rise much higher than that. It never has in all of known history. There are a small number of free thinkers, the rest are sheeple. Sheeple will never choose Ron Paul because his ideas are too realistic in this world of unreality.

This ponzi scheme is so far gone that all Ron Paul would do is collapse it and be a scapegoat for a total Nazi takeover.

You know this to be true! You know that's what would happen, and it would probably happen before the end of 2009. just like the idiots in Collifonnya flocked to Ahnold. And this country would be completely finished because of it. People would be willing to burn the constitution just to heat their homes.

Isnt it better to let Hillary be the scapegoat?

You know that after this is over, more people will know Ron Paul for his "racist" remarks than for anything else. The truth doesnt matter. He who lies loudest, with the biggest microphone, wins.  America has been conditioned to accept this, and as such, is it not logical to simply let the collapse continue? And just try to make a buck off of everyone's stupidity? I didnt think I'd talk like one of those social darwinists but I just cant see anything more logical than that. I love my country but it is clear that those around me could care less about the ideals from which this country was founded on. Why shed blood sweat and tears for them? Let them fall. Take care of yourself. Try to survive the coming collapse and maybe in a few years when you have some money and those dumbed down yuppies around you have lost everything, THEN maybe they will listen. They are not going to listen now, not until they lose everything. I'm not trying to make friends by saying this, its just the truth as I see it. America does not want Ron Paul, they want to live in dreamland. There's nothing we can do to change that in time. The world is moving on. It wont be long before the entire global economy will actually be able to PROSPER from a US economic collapse. That time is much closer than you'd think. A nation of fast food restaurants and video stores and starbucks and popup houses and strip malls does no good for the world. What made us great has been sapped from us by that damn tube. Like something out of a sci-fi novel.

If only Dr. Paul could communicate his policies and positions as clearly as you do then the candidate whom we champion would not have lost any hope of winning the GOP nomination last night in S. Carolina.

What's more, his performance gave mainline voters the impression that the MSM is right: Ron Paul is a loon. My wife and I watched the debate together with our 10 year old son. We are new to the political system but avid supports or Dr. Paul. Our conclusion was simple: he lost the debate. What is more disturbing, however, is that the HQ blog exclaimed that this was his "best debate yet!" (http://people.ronpaul2008.com/campaign-updates) Absurd. This is one reason that the MSM characterize his followers as "fringe" and "out of touch." Anyone who is foolish enough to say that he won last night's debate IS out of touch!

With the current campaign staff around him conducting an amateur campaign at best (http://blog.nj.com/njv_paul_mulshine/2008/01/this_rons_no_regan. html), what we on the local level have is an army of foot soldiers waiting for their leader to lead them. The Hebrew proverb puts it like this: "It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way." We have been zealous and generous but our candidate did not present himself in a way that the majority of the voting public could understand or connect with him and as such, he is, for all practical purposes, a non-factor for the GOP. What's more, the reality is that he is no longer a factor in this Presidential election. Cut it any way you want but that is the truth of the matter.

What does that mean for people like us in the long term? Simply this: we must not lose heart. The embers that have been stirred into flame must be encouraged and nurtured to burn brighter. We must educate ourselves for the next round(s) of elections. We must put ourselves in local races and seek to influence those with whom we associate and come in contact. We must be able to not only articulate WHAT we believe but more importantly, we must be able to clearly and succinctly explain WHY we believe what we do and how it affects us individuals and as a country.

A longsuffering wound has been exposed in the body of our country. We must tend to the wound ourselves, lest those who would "treat" the wound do so by amputation. We cannot afford to NOT be a part of the national discussion anymore. Even though we might hate the system, we must participate within the boundaries of the system faithfully until such time as we can change the system.

What's more, we cannot afford to abandon this election now! Even if Dr. Paul in not going to be the next president, we must contribute our ideas and passion to the election of the next Commander and Chief. Don't drop out. Don't give up. The old cliché' is true: it took a long time to get into this mess and it will take a long time to get out of this mess. Removing yourself from the equation, giving up on your contribution to the process if Dr. Paul is not part of the solution, will only make our predicament that much more dire.

We must (re)dedicate ourselves to the salvation of our Republic as did those who came before us, regardless of the cost. Either that or else we lie down and wait for death to overtake us. I will not. My family will not. "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." Let us fight, let us endure, let us live, let us win.    Fellow patriots, do not lose heart! The revolution has just begun…
