Republicide by Billy Joe

Has anyone else noticed that there are almost TWICE as many votes in the Democratic New Hampshire primary as the Republican? Results from Iowa were similar. The GOP is committing suicide. They may believe in big government, but they sure seem to have a small tent. No room for libertarians, paleoconservatives, etc. It seems weird to me that they will tolerate impending electoral falure more happily than diessent.
At the time of this writing, Both Hillary and Obama have well over 100,000 votes each and the clear GOP New Hampshire winner John McCain has less than 90,000. Results from Iowa were similar. Folks, Repubs are going to get creamed in the general election. The economy as well as the situation in the middle east is very likely to get worse and the GOP will get blamed by the ignorant masses who think there is a diiference between the two major parties. The Dems will continue the same economic and foreign policies of the neocons except for minor cosmetic changes. The dollar will continue to lose value and possibly even collapse. Unemployment is up. The trade deficit is up. The budget deficit is up. Great Brittain has a higher standard of living than the U.S. for the first time since the 19th century.
Our currency is so weak that central banks throughout the world are dumping dollar reserves in favor of Euros. Even drug dealers prefer Euros because they are more portable with 200 and 500 euro denominations. The World bank is fining the U.S. billions of dollars for unfair trade practices that hurt U.S. consumers even more than our trading partners. Oil and gold are at all-time highs and rising, and I didn't even get to the bad news yet. The subprime mortgage rot is spreading as the holders of poison paper seek a taxpayer-funded bailout. Forclosures are mounting. Banks only have a fraction of the assets needed to cover deposits, so a serious shock could crash the whole system. Baby boomers start retiring this year and there is NO MONEY in the social security trust fund because it was all spent on the war in Iraq. Medicare and Medicaid liabilities are more than triple social security's liabilities. Food prices are skyrocketing because we are putting corn in our gas tanks and not on our dinner plates. Every viable presidential candidate has promised increased spending and expanded government power. Economic disaster is becoming a mathematical certanty. The ship of state is headed for an economic iceberg that only a radical change of course can avoid.
The one glimmer of hope we have is a 72 year old OB/GYN and a bunch of internet nerds. Not too promising. We frankly got our asses handed to us in yesterday's primary. Now we get to find out if the only activists in the country with sound policy ideas have sound strategy ideas and the balls to implement them. I can live with Republicide if it means death of the GOP, but not if it means death of the republic.
