FOX News Sunday:
"We Distort. You Deride."

For its January 6th "Round Table", FOX has excluded third-tier candidate Ron Paul in favor of far more popular front-runners. What are we few remaining Paul supporters to do?

We Interrupt Our Regular Program Here at Truth Realm To Bring You A Public Service Announcement:

Some pundits have been foolishly predicting boycotts of FOX advertisers as a result of excluding Ron Paul from FOX Sunday's "New Hampshire Republican Presidential Forum."

Can you imagine that? Why would we Paulians, mediocre, mild-mannered mannequins that we are, feel so uncharitably inclined as to boycott those who choose to fund a "Fair and Balanced News" channel like FOX? Hey, it's not the advertisers' fault, is it? Besides, there are obviously so few of us Ron Paul supporters left after the Iowa caucus results that our ineffective and uncoordinated actions couldn't possibly have any effect on FOX's bottom line, could they?

Nonetheless, as a Truth Realm public service, we want to help the remnant of widely scattered but civically concerned Ron Paul supporters -- yes, all three of us! -- bring some desperately needed enlightenment to unsuspecting FOX advertisers!

This contact information is provided to help us let these poor, benighted advertisers know -- very politely and humanely of course! -- how their advertising budget will henceforth be wasted if they spend it at FOX "News." Let us behave like Ladies and Gentlemen as we take our meager business elsewhere! Let us be gentle and kind as we exit their stores and shun their products!

By helping these businesses come to a sober understanding of the very poor cost-benefit ratio that patronizing FOX News will provide from now on, we are performing a public service to them as well!

Here, for example, is a suggested letter or phone script we might use to help these poor, misguided businesses:

Dear FOX Advertiser,

As a concerned consumer, it pains me deeply to see you misdirecting your advertising dollars in a way that makes me seriously doubt your business acumen (not to mention your sanity.) People are laughing as they watch you throw good advertising money after bad!

Well, I suppose FOX News is as good a rathole as any if you really don't mind wasting your advertising dollars! I really like your products, and think it would be a shame to see them wind up on the shelf at Big Lots! Hey, I guess that's better than just burying them in a landfill, ha ha!

I thought I'd give you this "head's up" that two or three of us out here will be buying our goods and services from vendors that advertise with real news services, like, for instance, Nolan Chart.

So long!
Your Former Customer

Unlike those darned internet polls where we only get to vote once, we can redirect our business every time we need one of these products or services! So, let's express ourselves! The three of us ought to be able to make a real impression!

Proctor & Gamble (Crest Whitestrips & Dawn) - Delphi (Driving Products) - Mercedes Benz - Comcast - Subaru - GMC Suvs - Best Buy - Travelocity - Capzasin - Orbitz - Ditech.com - eloan.com - Toyota - Centrum (Wyeth) - Nextel (Sprint) - Vehix.com - Gold Bond - Aspercreme - WebMD.com - American Express - Holiday Inn Express - priceline.com - L. L. Bean - Jet Dry (Dishwasher Products) - Chemistry (Matchmaking Website) - Bankrate.com (mortgages) - Cars Direct.com - Discussion of NewsCorp Stock

Remember, we aren't limited to voting for Ron Paul at the polls; we can also vote with our wallets! Don't forget that a penny saved by each of the three of us makes three more cents we can donate to Dr. Paul's campaign, or spend on Ron Paul paraphernalia and advertising!

Good message and presentation.  Thanks for the links, let me see, three of us...but there's 12 thumbs so far and Walt has this place rigged so you can only thumb once??  Hmmm...are there still a few closet Paulites lurking about and reading this inspirational approach to voting with our wallets?

i think the letter should look more like this --- mocking and shunning them would cause them to go on the defensive ...

To Whom it May Concern,

I have recently learned that congressman and Repulbican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul will be excluded from a Televised debate on January 6th 2008. (http://www.usadaily.com/article.cfm?articleID=212069)

Although I respect your right for censorship, excluding a Presidiential Candidate 2 days before a state primary speaks volumes on Fox's executive favoritism. It makes me think that Fox skews the news in order to favor the views of its executive producers and sponsors views. How can a news source be considered credible if it actively censor's unwated views from being aired on its program?

Please do not exclude relevant candidates whose participation in this debate is crucial in the excercise of First Ammendmant Rights.

If you exlude Dr. Ron Paul from this debate, then you will have proved that Fox Networks and Affiliates are not credible news sources. My family will then have to seek credible news sources elsewhere.

Hi Mike, Thanks for your feedback and suggested letter format!

This article was written more as a humorous approach to a serious subject than as an actual template for folks to use. If we can't laugh and have some fun in the midst of the battle, we'll all be basket cases before it's over! :)

Also, the approach suggested here appeals more to the self-interest of the advertisers -- which of course ultimately whacks FOX in the pocketbook -- whereas your template appeals directly to FOX news "managers."

Nonetheless, thank you for reading, for responding, and thank you for your constructive addition to this dialog! :)

It's kind of ironic that the only reason I watch Fox Noise is see whom I don't need to buy products from.  Rather opposite of what advertising dollars are spent for.

instead of watching fox tonight, you can watch the good Dr. Paul answer questions at a NH townhall forum starting at 5pm ET here: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/snippets/127/manchester-townhall/
