How The US Became A Third-World Country

America used to send teams to monitor foreign elections. The time may have come to do the same here.

*1* - *2* - *3* - *4* - *5* (coming soon!)

It's the Wizard of Oz all over again. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." Somewhere in the last few decades, sometime when we weren't paying attention, America was lost. Choice was lost. Step by step, election by election, vote by vote, Liberty was lost. We all started going home from elections thinking "I guess my vote just wasn't enough to make a difference this time" and "Maybe democracy is nothing more than bread and circuses after all."

Oh, really?

Do you remember the last time you voted? How did you cast your vote? Was it written on a piece of paper? Was it gathered in a box with other votes? Or did your choice become a bit in a machine to be tallied and manipulated at the whim of some program written by a nameless faceless wizard? Can you inspect that program? Are there trapdoors and back doors?

Does your vote travel invisibly over high speed networks? Is it tallied by large machines in darkly inaccessible rooms? Do the news networks influence and manipulate it? How many votes in how many key precincts do you think it takes to subtly sway the outcome of an election? Do you find these questions even mildly disturbing? Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodies? But who is watching the watchers?

Ron Paul is raising a ton of money. He is climbing in every measure of support. But can he survive an actual vote? Not if it is tampered with!

What does voting boil down to in the USA today? A bunch of black boxes run by secret software owned by one of a very few corporations and talleyed by a private organization. Can you say "plausible deniability?"

It all started with us. That's right, it started with us thinking that we could just vote and pick the candidate of our choice. Little did we know that someone was rigging the game. If we really care about the outcome of the upcoming presidential elections, both primary and national, it is time to start paying attention!

This short article is no more than a wake-up call: not only do we need to get out the vote, we need to get the vote OUT - out of the black boxes, out in the open. Like the vampires of legend that shun the light of day, vote fraud must and will succumb to the light of public scrutiny.

We need precinct volunteers to monitor the upcoming primary elections. We need exit pollers. We must demand a tangible, verifiable audit trail - typically in the form of paper ballots that can be counted by hand, publicly, in front of witnesses. We need witnesses to the entire chain of custody of ballots. We need to monitor this election with an eagle eye and be sure that it is not stolen from us by the wealthy dynasties, the men in black in back rooms with the money and the machinery to rig the outcome.

I have heard it said that there are three boxes we can use to change our nation; the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box. Let's watch the first like hawks so we need not resort to the last! If we're going to rock the vote for Ron Paul, we need to watch the vote! You and I need to watch the watchers. You and I. There is nobody else.

Thanks for invoking the third-world word; it's time that the advent of third-world America, long overdue, is loudly heralded.

It seems, however, that you have yet to be disabused of the notion that we can change the system from within the system; no, I'm afraid that nothing but a military coup can achieve the activation energy required for phase-change.

That's a baseless conclusion, of course, and I'd be glad if you'd prove me wrong; but a Bolshevik revolution has been enacted in the name of neo-conservatism, and we all know how that one turned out.

Haven't looked at the others, but WatchTheVote2008.com is the exactly right way to go. We simply need a couple hundred people in IA and NH each to simply collect precinct counts and report them reliably and immediately on the Internet. Then when the media give us "their" counts, we have legitimate, contemporaneous reason to challenge the whole process.

Remember-- whoever counts the votes has the power. But that maxim cuts both ways! If WE count the votes WE reclaim the power!

Please sign up at WatchTheVote2008.com today, or the private vote counting program of your choice.
