We've all seen those old black-and-white flicks of the 100 ft. tall monster, greedily devouring everything in its path. I put to you, readers, that the state itself shares many, if not all, of those same characteristics with that foul, hairy beast on a rampage through town, munching away at all it may grasp.
The good news is "Gov-zilla" has eaten just about everything and there is scarcely nothing left for the creature to consume. People are out of work, businesses once thought vastly prosperous are shutting their doors for good. We are now at the stage where this vile freak of nature must begin to feed upon itself, thus eventually ending the state as we know it, as there is again, almost nothing left to sustain it. Of course if it say, eats its own "arm", then it has one less limb to grab up hapless victims with. If it feeds upon a "leg" it cannot stand and will quickly topple itself. The demon is bleeding and it will soon die.
The bones of its victims that it once used to pick its teeth after a large feast, are all that is left to keep it going forward. Those destitute taxpayers, bankrupt homeowners and struggling businesses are the only nourishment left available to the behemoth and they are for the most part simply frail, gaunt, and don't even count as a tiny snack.
The state is as mindless as it is hungry. It makes no viable future plans that are based even remotely on reason nor sanity. As the private sector has scaled back its spending and quality of life, the state instead, keeps plodding along like every day is rife with new large meals to enjoy. It makes no such wise plans to cut out waste, inefficiency, or curb growth.
Where do you and I fit in to this? Think of yourself as a seedling that has fallen to the ground during the feeding frenzy of this lumbering leviathan. You sprout and grow in the period after the demise of this monster.
Then all is as it should be, and as it always should have been.

Dan, I love your metaphor! :) Gov-zilla indeed!
My question would be, how do we get "the unwashed masses" to stop acting like Gov-zilla exists? How to get a significant number of people to stop empowering the beast by, essentially, ignoring it and defunding it?
