Ron Paul Shows Some Outrage (The Gaza Slaughter - Epilogue)

Congress votes (again) 390-5 to wholeheartedly condemn Hamas and support Israeli military aggression. "This is not in the interest of the United States; it's not in the interests of Israel either." - Ron Paul

WASHINGTON, DC – The House voted on Friday January 9th to pass House Resolution 34 which can be summed up with this short excerpt: The United States "calls on all nations to lay blame both for the breaking of the calm' and for subsequent civilian casualties in Gaza precisely where blame belongs, that is, on Hamas."

Umm, I don't think this will find much support from the peoples of "all nations." Now, the firing of Hamas' highly inaccurate rockets into civilian areas is to be condemned.  However, let us put things into some perspective here:

The Human Rights Watch reports that for 3 years from 2004-2007, ten (10) Israelis civilians were killed and zero (0) soldiers. Hamas rockets also killed two (2) Palestinian civilians as well. This latest attack was set off by the deaths of three (3) Israeli civilians and one (1) IDF soldier per the AP. So for 4 years, we have roughly (probably a few more) fourteen (14) Israelis dead and a couple Palestinians (most likely by mistake) by Hamas.

In retaliation, the Israelis have killed, at last count 828 Palestinians and wounded another 3,340 just in the latest attacks. Of the dead, it is fair to say that many are not from Hamas, and the claim is 235 children dead, 92 women dead, 62 elderly people dead, four local journalists dead and 12 medics dead per CNN.

This is a major case of overkill, and if one compares the Palestinian dead on a per capita percentage basis, it would be like 177,500 Americans dying over the last couple weeks, which is quite a bit larger than 9/11 (under 3000) and our Iraq-Afghanistan campaigns (about 5000).

Ron Paul repeated the same message as he did in a similar vote in 2008, where he was outvoted 404-1 as I wrote about in Part 5. This time around, four (4) Democrats voted with Paul, notably including Dennis Kucinich. Read this Raw Story article and watch the video, Ron Paul started losing his cool near the end of his 2-minute statement.

Speaking for myself, I probably would have echoed Dr. Paul, but I might have also added this:

liberty"As a country born in a righteous-but-bloody revolution of its own against the British, and the wrongful aggressor in the genocide and near-extermination of the indigenous Native American Indian population, America does not condone violence, murder, theft, and rape in any form where peaceful revolution remains a viable option. We believe in the right to self-determination and open, armed rebellion only as a response to onerous, oppressive force, both physical and economical.

In order to disentangle ourselves from this conflict, America should withdraw all government-sponsored military and foreign aid from not only Israel, Palestine, and Hamas, but the rest of the world, especially in light of our current economic situation.

Individual American citizens are encouraged to provide humanitarian aid to the oppressed civilian populations around the world since surely they are unarmed innocents and losers in these conflicts.

Some may even, like Barack Obama's Chief of Staff and former investment banker Rahm Emanuel, chose to fight on one side or the other. In Rahm's case, he served as a mechanic for the IDF even though he never served a single day as an American serviceman. However, these individual decisions must not and cannot have any bearing whatsoever on the direction we will take.

America has always been a home for the oppressed as is engraved on our Statue of Liberty:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
"

To all Americans, if you believe this should still hold true today, contact your State legislature as an immigration decision of this type is certainly not a proper decision for your federal government to make as outlined in the Constitution, Article 1, Section 9, Clause 1. Perhaps our great country can make room for some of the 1.4 million Palestinian civilians, if they would be willing to leave their ancient lands, which have been defiled by so much killing and destruction for so many years. (poem source and photo)

Hey, that last bit was just a wild idea, I get them all the time, it's an affliction of free thinkers.

Now, what do you think of it? I live in China, so don't say we don't have any room! We can even use our brand-new, government-paid, KBR-built "detention and processing" concentration camps! Heck, KBR even stated they were built in "the event of an emergency influx of immigrants into the US, or to support the rapid development of new programs." I bet there is even a little miniature Statue of Liberty at the gates of each one.... or will it say "Arbeit Macht Frei" instead?

Join the rEVOLution! Why? Well, for starters, our version of "camping" involves tents, some Smores, and star-gazing!

The first and most important statue of Hamas existance is elimination of state of Israel, so don't talk about innocent civillians - they overwhelmingly elected Hamas, and Hamas is using the residential areas to launch rockets. How about self defence militia, who would shoot Hamas guerillas, when they show up in the streets.

It does not matter weather those rockets were accurate or unaccurate - take the gun and start shooting in the street of your own village or town, hit few windows - where are you gonna end up - in jail. All the world saw it and did nothing, no UN piece corps went and restrained arabs from shooting the rockets on Israel. So don's blame Israel for defending its citizens from arab guerillas (pallestine was never an ethnic definition it was the province of Roman empire, incorrectly itranslated from word Philistine).

And Israel does pretty good job having so small civilian collateral damage (1:1), having in mind that arabs use civiians as a shield.

Dear Art -

Thanks for writing back.

Israel did a great job of literally bulldozing a nonviolent American "human shield" to death, please see Part 2.

You wrote "don't talk about innocent civilians"

Why not?  Why not talk about the innocent civilians - on both sides of the Gazan prison walls?  Because "they" elected Hamas?  Good grief, listen to the Ron Paul speech in the link above for one.

Second, what kind of screwed-up mob thinking is that?  Democracy picks so-and-so as their leader, then it becomes OK for Israel to do a "pretty good job" of killing ANY of them as COLLATERAL DAMAGE?

You, sir, are writing and thinking exactly a true terrorist.  They are perfectly OK with collateral damage as well, and I am sure would admire Israels' 1:1 ratio, as you claim.

Democracy is rule by majority or mob rule.  The USA is supposed to be a constitutional REPUBLIC with democratic elections.

Lastly, just so you understand me, Israel does have a right to defend itself, the point I made in the above is that they are going a TAD bit overboard.

Defense by violence is one way, but its often the most wasteful and ineffective.  Believe it or not, many of the Israelis understand this.

Try reading the rest of the series, I tried to stay away from the "who-shot-who" part of the recent attacks and try different perspectives.  Or not.  I don't actually care.  Peace.

A no vote on these types of resolutions makes sense because the U.S. has no business telling other countries what to do or picking sides.  We need to mind our own business.  I don't understand Libertarian type news outlets condemning Israel for defending itself (to whatever degree that Israel chooses to do so).  This, unlike our own wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is NOT an unprovoked war.

There are consequences for continuously picking on a country that has an ample military and has shown in the past that it is not afraid to use it.  If you poke the big kid long enough with a stick, he's going to hit you over the head with something more effective than a stick.  The media seems to lose all context whenever they have the opportunity to vilify someone in a humanitarian crisis.  It makes a much better story.  This could have been prevented.  No Hamas attacks, no invasion.

First on Rachael, I am sorry for her death, but on other hand she acted as a teenager, who thinks is in United States. She was in a war zone, so she should act appropriately. Other thing - have you tried to drive that bulldozer - view is so limited, and they are not in US where you have to put signs on every corner or rear view mirror that there are dead spots - simple logic - you don't see drvers eyes - he does not see you - applies and ACLU will not help there.

Second - civillians and mob - arabs in Gaza supported Hamas, it means arabs in Gaza support elimination of Izrael by any means. Ok you call it Democracy - Hitler was elected decmocratically - and became Chancelor (prime minister, equivaent of American president, which is executive branch of the government) of Germany democratic way. So why did Allies had Nurenberg - they were democratically elected and did everything according to the law (the law they wrote). Hamas per se is terrorist organization and populus electing it supprots terrorism, they are "civillian fighters" - dressed like civillians, but have guns on handand use them tho kill Israelis (so become military) - , but when killed they become back civillians. What a nice cover up. And launches of rockets from civillian areas, knowing that there will be a back fire, shows that they want civillian casualties, because they know that Western world starts fainting, when see civillians dead. So having in mind this type of warfare 1:1 is pretty good (and again I am sorry for civillians, but war is not a chess game).

Overboard thing - again try to go out and shoot into neighbours windows with or without (but actually with intent to hurt him) - waht will happen, even no human casualty would happen - you end up locked up for a long long long time - you can call it little bit TAD overboard.

And Democracy, especially associated with mob. Democracy ends when eople vote for their own benefits, especially who do not contribute to the society. The Mob democracy is self destructive goverment - just look where are we goning here, in America. Simple rule should apply - if one does no pay taxes, one has no right to vote. Rude, but fair. That led to demice of Rom, that shall lead to demice of ...

Dear Art -

On Rachel, I suggest you watch the video I posted first in the source list.  She was in her mid-20's and if you watch the video she certainly doesn't sound like a "teenager" by which I suppose you mean immaturity.  As far as getting in front of that bulldozer, I wouldn't have done it either, and in the article I commented that only the driver knows if he saw her or not.  Too stupid or too courageous?  Depends on your point of view, we'll never know for sure, and its a little pointless to wonder too much about it.  By the way, very glad you decided to read a little and reply back, sorry if I seem a little abrasive.

Part 3 takes an interesting economic look at that bulldozer driver - who was a Russian immigrant.

On your second point, I think you are ignorant (not stupid) on Hitler's rise to power.  I've read several books, etc but I believe the best by a long-shot is The Coming of the Third Reich by Robert Evans.

Hitler was given the chancellorship even as the popular support for the Nazis was waning - I think the highest they ever achieved was 34% of the vote, but that's from memory, it might be 32%.  Why?  Well if you study history the President and PM decided to APPEASE him and the masses.

All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing.  Study history or become history.

Thanks for writing back! - Jake

Ok, again about Rachel - yes teenager, means immaturity, which is currently so prevalent in American society - no responsibility for their actions, just putting their own opinion and action above everything. Just look - her family filed a lawsuit against Caterpillar - what an idiotic act and sign of own irresposibility and personal monetary gain. It was an act of stupidity, which could fly in US, not in a war zone. And again I am sorry for her death, like deat of any human (even those collateral civilians), but she was not an innocent bystander.

Russian immigrants - they are Russian Jews, not Russians, some of their spouces may be Russians, Ukranians, etc.. And in chronological description of population, why do you not mention, how many arabs and Jews where living there in year 70 CE or AD. May be that will make sence, why to go only 200 years back, why not 2 or 3 thousand years? Simply, the existance of state of Israel is like foreign body for the arab world, both because it's a democracy and because it's not an arab state.

Hitler - I know history very well. He never had won the majority, but failure of Erns Talmann and Otto Wells to unite agains Hitler , made him the biggest party and appointment as a Chancellor, with further sabotage of Communists with the Reichstag fire (probably directive from Stalin or plot by Hitler, though why would not Stalin exchange Talmann when Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed?), put Hitler to full power. The failure of several parties to reach agreements and form coalition, led to multiple elections with eventual democratic election of Hitler. And Hindenburg did not want to appease masses, he resisted that for a long time, just ego of other party leaders led to the self destruction.

I like history, because history repeats itself. I like to analize and compare, and make conclusions based on historic facts. And if Israel will not defend itself, it will become history, like it was in the past (Rome was too powerful against the rebellion), but there is only one nation in the world, which survived for 2000 years of persecution, discrimination, extermination in all means by all possible goverments from antiquity to capitalism - political, economical, ownership, physical, etc. And that nation is Hebrew. That nation is not asking for conquests, but to defend it's own land and security and peace. It's arab world which cannot accept that idea.

And thanks for opportunity to discuss it.
