Lieberman Avoids the Wrath of Democrats

Coming to his rescue are many within the party to stave off the initial desire of the Majority Leader, Harry Reid, to exile Lieberman by taking away his committee chair while the Senate Democratic caucus voted 42-13 to not level the punishment. As the media follows the events not one major source of the coverage dares to ask why there is so much power given to so few?

Senator Joe Lieberman is the Charmian of the Homeland Security Committee. This is considered a key committee appointment. The post of chairman is considered a very important position which the Democratic Party selects due to their majority status. Many felt Lieberman should have been removed from this position as a punishment for supporting Republican Senator John McCain during the campaign even though Lieberman has been an Independent for several years now. We watched the drama, wondering if the party would level this type of wrath based on their anger over his free choice for president. Every major paper and news agency covered this "important" story.

Scanning many of the stories I kept looking for the one source that would ask an all important question, why does either party, while in the majority, get such power as to make or break someone simply based on a freedom of choice? How can it be, in a free society, a person's political career and clout can be held as a punishment or reward depending on their behavior? What gives them this power?

It happens in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Positions of congressional leadership are dealt out by the votes of the respective party, not by the people. The only real change from one party to the other are the titles available depending on who holds the majority and who is in the minority at the time. Right now we have the Democratic control so they have the loftiest of titles. Yet, the Republicans also have titles and roles to fill which are used to reward members of Congress who are loyal to the party causes. There's also banishment and punishment for those who don't, not to mention complete ostracizing of any minor party if they dared to win a seat. Not only are these powers available beyond our votes at the federal level but the same scenario plays out in state legislative bodies across this once free country. These amount to nothing more than titles of nobility once denounced by many of those who founded a Federalist Republic, free from this method of bribery and control.

The people vote for a representative to send to the legislative branch yet once their representative arrives the constituency loses their influence as the party begins. This is not based on any Constitutional structure or Natural Law premise. The organizational structure that gives power to the party is based on a century old tradition started by the two parties at the federal level to complicate the system, block any other parties or freedom of choice, and maintain strict control without the fear of having the people's vote alter their control. This is a part of the shadow government running our country beyond the reach of our votes.

The media joins in the game by covering these titled people as if they are more important than any others. We have been strapped with this tradition so long we don't recognize it for the tyranny it is, we instead follow the stories such as the Joe Lieberman drama. As long as this level of power, the reward and punishment system of doling out titles, continues we will not be able to break the oligarchy from the destruction of our republican form of government. As it is the Constitution is in exile, we're more of a representative democracy, and our government rules the day rather than liberty.

When you see this type of story dominating the headlines or you hear any utterance from the Majority Leader, Majority Whip, Minority Leader, or Minority Whip ask yourself why we need these titled positions and how much freer we could become if they were no longer there. It's time to break the oligarchy by demanding an end to this organizational stranglehold on our federal and state governments. Streamlining the organizational structure, eliminating these titled positions, and following a method of legislative process simplified by the guidance of our Constitution will allow transparency and accountability to regain a foothold while moving us closer to restoring our Republic.

Excellent article Gary, the country needs to hear more about this as so many just follow along kicking the stones as they go.  If more people were informed we would have the opportunity to have better representation.  I have seen so many that just buy the media's version of the story and happily go along their merry way.
