The so-called rescue-package that will sink further whatever is left of the economy could be the political opportunity of Ron Paul to rally all those in Congress, Democrats and Republicans, who just cannot support that kind of swindle. This is the major political decision of this time and it could end up redefining political lines.
Many of us have always believed that states need utter disaster, like military defeats or dire economic conditions, to collapse and leave way to freedom. We might very well be right there. Or not far from there.
If Ron Paul could take such a leadership, he would be in great position to bring about his revolution. Better than President of the United States because all political action has to go through Congress. Constitutionally at least.
I am catching myself dreaming that Ron Paul would garner enough traction to become Speaker of the House.
Let's not waste our time with that ridiculous presidential campaign. I understand that Ron Paul endorsed Baldwin but I think the move is really about marginalizing that political fraud named Bob Barr who, day after day, press release after press release, redefines libertarianism as conservatism. The real battle is in Congress. Representatives and senators are under huge pressures to chose between the deep conviction of the American people that the bailout is wrong and their allegiance to the state. Let's help Ron Paul win the battle on Capitol Hill.

Dear Jean-Christophe Roux -
Interesting thought. It certainly is bringing a few unfrightened members of our congress forward. Check out this post from Rep Kaptur D-Ohio Despite Bush's address to pass the bill, it seems a lot of people are contacting their congress members.

Absolutely correct. But it is not just up to Ron Paul. Contact your Representative and your Senators and tell them to do their job and stop the fascist coup.

I just got the following email from the Ron Paul's campaign for Liberty.
Dear C4L Member,
Yesterday, Ron Paul sent out a letter warning of the dangers of the Paulson and Bernanke bailout plan and asking you to contact your representatives and senators. A vote on this bill could literally come at any moment, and it is crucial that you immediately express your opinion to Congress.
The picture painted by the supporters of the bailout is dire. President Bush reinforced this notion in his address to the nation last night and again urged Congress to act immediately.
Remember what happened the last time the executive branch warned of horrible consequences and rushed legislation through Congress? We got the Patriot Act, which to this day threatens our civil liberties on an unprecedented scale.
We do know that our economy is in for a rough ride. These bad mortgage-related assets will have to be cleared out and the market will have to reset. The only question is how that will happen.
The easy way out is to continue the same practices that got us to this point. We can put $700 billion, for starters, in the hands of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (a former CEO of Goldman Sachs) and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and let them spend the money on whatever they wish.
This option will only delay the economic downturn, which will only be worsened.
Or, we can take this opportunity to end the federal government's interference in the marketplace, truly embrace free market capitalism, and return to a sound monetary system.
The Federal Reserve's practices of easy credit and monetary inflation have crashed our economy, and now they're asking us to trust them to fix it.
When you call Congress to express your outrage at the bailout, tell them you want real solutions.
It is time for Congress to:
1.) End the Bailouts - Congress must revoke the Federal Reserve's authority to bail out failed businesses at your expense.
2.) Cut Taxes and Curb Regulation - If we really want to stimulate businesses and revive the market, we need to cut corporate and capital gains taxes, spurring investors to come back to the market and making it easier to attract new workers and clients. It is also time to end failed legislation like Sarbanes-Oxley, which has crippled capital markets, diminished our competitiveness, and greatly harmed small businesses.
3.) Reduce Spending - We must freeze all non-entitlement spending by the federal government at current levels and eliminate wasteful spending both domestically and in our trillion-dollar overseas budget. Our debt has to come down, and it won't until we start living within our means.
4.) Reform the Monetary System - If we are to have long-term economic progress, we must end the system of printing money out of thin air. The current laws limiting the circulation of gold and silver-backed currency must be overturned. We can no longer base our money on the empty promises of bureaucrats that it is sound.
The federal government is trying to scare us into accepting more tyranny. Don't stand for it.
Check out our action alert, and let Congress know that you will no longer tolerate the Federal Reserve's stranglehold on our economy.

Let's not get carried away here..... Ron paul is a uniting influence under any circumstances; what he is dealing with is a lot of political fat-cats who stand to lose personal fortunes in the hundreds of millions each if this bailout doesn't go through. Remember, truth is treason in the house of lies.

Ron Paul certainly represents more than just the people in his district.

re: my article "The Federal Reserve Gives Us Freedom"
Dear Ms. Roux,
I only wanted to take the time to respond to you because you seem to be so lost in your remarks. The Fed isn't telling you how you have to be free, nor am I. Any supposition of yours about someone inhibiting your freedom is strictly your own.
What the Fed and I are preaching is that you can be FREER in a world with a fiat currency than you can in a backwoods, hillbilly system like you would get from one with a hard currency.
You flash around the name of Ayn Rand like you really understand her, then dump your churlish notions about her "vanishing" as if that what was she (and Dagny) wanted to do. Dagny didn't try to vanish ~ she even left the Gulch to try to continue fighting against the looters. If you think she wanted to "vanish" to get away from people like me, you wouldn't know John Galt if you saw him.
I believe in government, I believe in the Federal Reserve, and I believe in rules and laws that help to keep us free. Get rid of guns, get rid of gold, and get rid of you floosies who dally in the deeper waters of discussion. You should stick with your tea and cookies.
Keep reading my articles, and you might learn WHY the system works and WHY your hard currency system is a dismal FAILURE.
