"The sexual pervert (and by this term Dianetics, to be brief, includes any and all forms of deviation in dynamic two such as homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc., and all down the catalog of Ellis and Krafft-Ebing) is actually quite ill physically." [1]
In this quote from Dianetics, one of the principal holy texts of Scientology, Hubbard leaves no room for misunderstanding. Anyone engaging in any form of homosexual behavior (or, indeed, any deviant heterosexual behavior) does so because of physical illness, according to Hubbard. The second dynamic referred to in this quote is the human drive to reproduce. These dynamics are considered key principals in Scientology, and so anyone engaged in any behavior that does not promote a dynamic or actively working against one of the dynamics would be very sick indeed in the eyes of a Scientologist. Homosexual behavior, which by definition cannot promote this second dynamic, is clearly unacceptable according to Hubbard.
Within the Church there exists a measure of a person's relative well-being called the Tone Scale. The tone scale is numeric, from the highest functioning people at a 4, and the very lowest at 1.1. The definition for this bottom rung of humanity is as follows:
"At 1.1 on the tone scale we enter the area of the most vicious reversal of the second dynamic. Here we have promiscuity, perversion, sadism, and irregular practices." [2]
Remember that Hubbard has already defined "homosexuals" and others as "perverts," and thus they too fall into category at the lowest point on the Tone Scale. Hubbard concluded:
"Such people should be taken from the society as rapidly as possible and uniformly institutionalized; for here is the level of the contagion of immorality, and the destruction of ethics;" [3]
Although Scientology presented another alternative:
"The only answers would seem to be the permanent quarantine of such persons from society to avoid the contagion of their insanities and the general turbulence which they bring to any order, thus forcing it lower on the scale, or processing such persons until they have attained a level on the tone scale which gives them value." [4]
Church Founder L. Ron Hubbard, stating that homosexuals (and other sexual "perverts") should thus be rounded up against their will and segregated from society, going through Scientology "processing" until they could be cured of their perversions and be considered persons of any value.
"You shouldn't be scrubbing the floor on your hands and knees. Get yourself a nigger; that's what they're born for."
-L. Ron Hubbard in a letter to his wife [5]
Hubbard frequently disparaged the natives of South Africa and blacks everywhere. He accused them of being unfit for civilization and compulsive liars [5]. But his disdain for non-whites was not limited to any one race.
"There is no madder nation than Japan. ... And that nation has the highest rate of suicide, has the highest rate of thick-lens glasses and did the most suicidal trick a few years ago. It's the doggonedest country" [6]
"You can put these things into the hands of some Chinese and send him to Hong Kong and we'll have cleared chinks." [7]
"The Arab is to a point where he won't even follow a decent leader. He's got to have a man of blood, a man of cruelty, exaggeration and bigotry. Then he'll follow him." [8]
These are but a few of the most disparaging quotes from the founder of Scientology, many of which come from lectures and books which are still used within the Church today.
Ask any Scientologist about the accusations against homophobia or racism within the Church and they will be quickly denied. What cannot be denied, however, is the manner in which Scientologists study. According to Scientologist "study tech," in order to truly understand any material one must go to the original "source" [9]. Any analysis or revisions are considered barriers to true understanding. Lafayette Ron Hubbard's materials, specifically those pertinent to Scientology, can be the only authority on what Scientology is according to their own belief system. Therefore if Hubbard stated that homosexuality is a perversion and that homosexuals must be quarantined, then this must, by Church doctrine, be the official policy of the Church of Scientology, regardless of what the current head of the Church might state.

Cute, an excellent display on how Gregg does NOT to understand the written word. For your next exercise, please add two and two.

Obligatory notification: Terryeo is on COS payroll, attacking pretty much all writers of articles that see Scientology in a negative light. It's also a nice example of the "always attack, never defend"-policy.

Terryeo, damn, if only we could read some sourced reports about Scientology's REAL beliefs!!! Oh, wait, we can. Why do they contradict Every Post We See With Your Name On It? You must be reading a different language or something...

Wow. I've read some incredibly misunderstood anonysis of Mr. Hubbard's writings, but yours, Gregg, is the most extreme misunderstanding I've run into. Let me put it like this.
How long is eternity? - a long time, huh? How long has mankind been on Earth? - relative to etenrity, not as long, huh? Since Scientology's foundational direction is toward spiritual understanding, doesn't it follow, even in the most critical thinking, that one's current race has little to do with one's existence ? My point is, the snippets you so happily hold up as critically important are but a sentence or two in a larger writing. The larger writing present an idea, your snipped portions present misunderstanding of that idea.

Reed Slatkin - Scientology has an underlying assumption but isn't founded on or in beliefs. The underlying assumption is that man (men and woman, you, me, everyone) is basically good. He finds himself in present time but senses there is more to it all. Through a series of small mistakes, each of which reduced him slightly, he arrives in today. But by viewing and understanding his accumulated small errors, he may regain that which fractionally reduced over time.

@terryeo
now we have your opinion in writing... And we have all seen Hubbards... Which is more relevant to the subject at hand?

Whhoooooosh . . . . .. . long silence after those incisive comments about Hubbard's indefensible statements. Can anyone confirm the rumors going around that the original "Terryeo" has finally left the Scientology Organization after all this time? And/or that his editing identity is only being kept alive by a series of alternating ghost writers? Just curious . . . . .
