Ron Paul continued his campaign for the Republican nomination for president over the weekend with two rallies in Kentrucky, which will hold its primary this Tuesday.
On Friday he was in Bowling Green, speaking to his grandson and with more than four hundred supporters at a rally in the high school gym. The local media had largely ignored the scheduling of the event, although they did announce events held by the other campaigns in the area, including the opening of a local headquearters for Senator Clinton. The Clinton headquarters opening drew 40 aupporters earlier in the week. But the rally was coverd with a good presentation of some of the main argurments made by Representative Paul and a good report on the mostly useful supporters. (www.bgdailynews.com)
Saturday, he was in Louisville, with a booksigning at Borders in the afternoon, and a freedom rally in the evening. The Borders store had carried an announcement of the signing party on their website, but the Courier-Journal did not mention the rally as a coming event until the day before the rally. More than 500 people showed up, although the Courier-Journal's story today quotes at least on supporter as saying she had no idea Ron Paul was going to be in town until she saw a crowd gathering and the Paul banners.(www.courierjournal.com)
In Bowling Green, asked about his chances in the convention, Paul said, "I'm a lot more confident than I was a year ago." His message to his supporters was the same as it has been throughout the campaign: "You never sacrifice libertty to be safe and secure..." And the solution for Americans is to return to the constitution, with limited government and individual responsibility. He called for an end to the war and bringing the troops home not only from Iraq but from all overseas outposts. Destroying a people's country, he pointed out, does not make them our friends.
So the Paul campaign for President continues even as the convention nears. But Sue Cunningham, the writer of the Courier Journal story on the rally, recalled an earlier, and equally important, message from Rpresentative Paul in an interview posted on You Tube: "We must remember the elections are short term efforts. Revolutions are long term projects." The Revolution is moving forward. There is still much to be done to support the Paul campaign for the nominaiton, but the project must be continued after first campaign is over.

Well, clearly, Paul's campaign to remain on the deck of the Titanic continues unabated. Instead of rising above party, Paul appears determinded to go down with the ship, lost to sea and eventually pushed to the margins of history, as have our ideals of this nation which Paul so excellently represents.
Rtbohan, the Paul salient will be flicked out of the way at the gop convention if he continues this Republican party campaign. Instead of running to extend the ideals of liberty to the masses, in the context of a presidential election with a Ron Paul- Bob Barr 08 ticket, and follow the path that leads directly to the debate table with McAmnesty or ShilBama, Paul yields.
Even if Paul wants to save the GOP, he will have to run outside it by juxtaposing and illuminating the grand ideals of the founders versus the collectivists. Ron Paul has all the tools, the network of volunteers, the financial base to outfund raise McShame, and generally run circles around the gop. But unless the Gop is driven into the ground, it will rise again with more public relations gimmickry to hoodwink and win back large sectors of its base with a more modern "Contract with America" and a scientifically tested slogan, ala, "Compassionate Conservatism." The cycle of two-party dominance will continue, moral and financial bankruptcy of this country will be made complete, and the American dream comes to its untidy and tragic demise.
Let us pray that Ron Paul, in the next 100 hours before the LP convention begins in Denver, sees the large leap liberty can gain by Paul extending his march 3rd Party on a Paul - Barr ticket.

Paul, if all those millions of voters are panting to vote for Paul as a Libertarian, why did they not vote for him in the primaries? Is Bob Barr that much better known and popular than Paul? What Ron Paul has done and continues to do is run the campaign which is the opening campaign of the revcolution. That having been done, If Paul does not make his campaign foolish by accepting the Libertarian nomination, he has laid the groundwork for a grass roots campaing of education and propaganda which may lead to success. But it too many of his supporters are too busy wiring letters begging Ron Paul to do their work for them, that campaign will be damaged.
