A newly released audiotape by the Department of Defense of a December 12th, 2006 Luncheon taped Rumsfeld telling a group of military analysts that the American public needs another 9/11 Attack to wake up. Please listen here at dod.mil and read below, but decide for yourself please. The Huffington Post beat your author to the punch and released an article here as well.
To the clatter and din of dinner knives and forks, Rumsfeld also blathers on about attacking Iran, jokingly infers to a "stroke of lightning" (aka assassination) of Moqtada al-Sadr and that he would reward the killer with a bottle of champagne. Perhaps topping everything is a statement that the US will win the actual military fighting, but can't win a War of Occupation against guerilla warfare in Iraq, etc., etc.
If you are celebrate freedom of religion, keep reading, you would also be offended by Rumsfeld saying that the US needs to coerce Europe into increasing its military spending although this is doubtful due to due to increasing Muslim populations in Europe, and that the US needs to increase military spending from "just" 3.8% to 5%.
Okay, bombs away! Remember this is all hush-hush "off-the-record" chicken hawk locker room talk:
_____________________________________________________
Lieutenant General Michael DeLong (per Huffington Post): "Let's go waaaaaay the heck off the record again... but we are looking at a really rough year politically... what are the land mines you can foresee... what do you see below the level... politically - that you see coming at us at high speed with a big crunch?"
Donald Rumsfeld adds a racial comment on the evils of increasing Muslim demographics of our allies in Europe, and a comment on Chinese cyber warfare against our military "We are so dependent on digit[al data]. My God, the damage that could be done to us is really notable." (Your poor author quickly gets confused as he then talks about smallpox outbreaks killing millions, what is he is talking about?)
Lieutenant General Michael DeLong: "Politically, what are the challenges because you're not going to have a lot of sympathetic ears up there. What are the land mines... below the level that you see coming at us?"
Donald Rumsfeld: "That's what I was just going to say. This President's pretty much a victim of success. We haven't had an attack in five years. Hell, the perception of the threat is so low in this society today that it's not surprising that the behavior pattern reflects a low threat assessment. The same thing's in Europe, there's a low threat perception. The correction for that, I suppose, is an attack. And when that happens, then everyone gets energized for another [inaudible] and it's a shame we don't have the maturity to recognize the seriousness of the threats - the lethality, the carnage, that can be imposed on our society is so real and so present and so serious that you'd think we'd be able to understand it, but as a society, the longer you get away from 9/11, the less - the less - "

I'll take the blue pill, thank you! Next!
Unknown: "This is really off the record, but do you think that this Government can survive... or do we need an Authoritarian government like came out of [South] Korea like [dictator, see below] Syngman Rhee?"
Rumsfeld lures him on but does not incriminate himself: "That's completely off the record... but I think you are smart enough to know the answer to your question... but we are still off the record."
Unknown: "I think the answer is you can, but how do you get that right person?"
Rumsfeld implicitly agrees (a little McCain with that, anyone?) and goes on to admiringly talk about Syngman Rhee and how to work with other dictators that were "...not well-liked... not as attentive... but would make decisions and kick some fanny and [get your idea] implemented... and now we are really off the record." And then adds jokingly? "I would feel really bad to [have to] kill somebody and send out some death squads."

And here's a real gem! What a big, bad empire we are!
Rumsfeld: "We haven't gone on a sufficiently [enough] on a war footing. We still have people you know Fort Kernels up there at the damn Council of Foreign Relations... What percent of [DoD personnel] have actually been to Iraq and Afghanistan already? [Just] Forty, I think! It's too much peace time, it's too much business-as-usual for my taste. And if this goes on much longer we are going to have to do what you are worried about and that is something that one has to then say is worrisome. You go only go for so long. You don't want to have to eat your C-CORN. But we haven't done it yet. We are not at a worrisome point in my view at all. I was so dag-gan mad after we had been in this war for two years, and Operation Bright Star in Egypt was that the name of it? They wanted to send some 15,000 ground forces to some damn exercise in Egypt. I mean everything in motion stays in motion and to stop it or alter it or put it on a wartime footing is just harder than hell. So we have done too little of what you are worried about in my view and if this thing goes on for that much longer we are going to have to do more of it."
Unknown: "Mr. Secretary, do you think we are putting enough dollars at 4% currently into modernizing [the military]? Doesn't it need to be 4.5 or 5?
Rumsfeld: "No. I don't know what the right number is. Doesn't it need to be 4.5 or 5? What the hell was it? 10% when I came to town, it was 5 when I was Secretary those 30 years ago but its down to 3.8% and this country can sure as hell afford to... There's still just so much damn waste in these departments [unintelligible] and its just incredible. It's just... [unintelligible, possibly "if only the"] taxpayer could just! Oh God! It's good to have some pressure on it. But but hell, we could afford 5%, Jesus! [unintelligible, perhaps Congress?] would never notice it."
R: "And uh. The other problem you've got - I look at Europe. Basically our allies and and we see them. There is only four of them I think who are over 2% and and they've got a growing Muslim population. They are going to begin to affect their voting. Their demographics. Their aging demographics. Increasing Muslim populations inevitably will affect the body politic so the likelihood of getting that up from 1.1, 1.2, 1.5% up into the 3.8's is very low. So you are going to end up five, ten, fifteen years from now with a capability among our principalallies that will be relatively modest."
R: "Conversely, Japan is sufficiently worried about China and North Korea that they are migrating towards the reasonably rational behavior of a major economic power. The second most powerful on the face of the earth. The economy. They've been holding down at about 1%. And didn't even have a Ministry of Defense. An agency they had. They are going to start fixing that I think which will be a good thing."
Unknown: "Mr. Secretary, let's go waaaaaaaaaaay off the record again." [Rumsfeld and group laugh and whistle.]

GOOD GRIEF! My conclusion after listening to this tape is that in his own words and more importantly in his own mind, Rumsfeld views the "gathering storm" of Islamic terrorists (although curiously he repeatedly just says "Muslims") as a threat on the level of the Nazis, per his other references in the clip to Winston Churchill and Nazism. I suppose he disagrees with my viewpoint that he himself is far more similar to Hitler's Nazis thugs, than any of these threats he imagines. Try replacing 'Muslims' with 'Jews' or 'Gypsies' or any other grouping in the above passage. Not to mention the lovely penchant for spending more and more wealth on armies that quite frankly, this world doesn't need.
I am actually sad for this poor, frightened man, but more than a little pissed off. These guys in my military and Government sound like stupid jock football players talking about how they hate the field goal kicker on the other team. (By the way, if anyone who knows what a "C-CORN" actually is, please tell me! ...and I used to play football.)
The conclusion for a free society is obvious. Although this tape by itself may not be a criminal smoking gun,' there is enough evidence to launch a formal investigation, and an impartial investigation would probably indict Rumsfeld and others for trial for war crimes, torture, and violation of other civil liberties.
Until then, I myself am liable for un-Constitutional investigations, search-and-seizure, and imprisonment-without-trial like Jose Padilla per the Patriot Act for writing antiwar articles filled with drivel. What irony.
Well, Rumsfeld may not be but I am "On the Fucking Record."

This article is dedicated to my Mom, because when she reads this, she will be scared as hell that I will be shot. Truth is not a kind master. :)

Note: Rhee was a dictator who took over the South Korea for 12 years as an American puppet during the Korea War. He wanted to combine Korea and have the US bomb China, and as a result was a major obstacle in the peace process. After a long series of massacres (breaking news indicates a possible additional 100,000 deaths covered up by the US military), oppression, torture, imprisoning the Queen, and embezzling, the CIA evacuated Rhee to Hawaii in 1960 as he was being chased by a lynch mob.

I wonder if Rumsfeld's comment; "The correction for that, I suppose, is an attack" would qualify as an act of terrorism under some of the recent anti-terror laws.

The problem we now face in this country is.... The people we are supposed to be able to turn to, when we find out someone is out to commit crimes against our country and over-through our government are part of the problem. There isn't anybody left to uphold the law and they have all crossed over to the otherside. These crimnals are not just above the law, they are the law and there's not a damn thing we can do about it.... and they know it.
The only thing left that we can do is to come on line and bitch and moan and hope that somebody will come up with an answer.
My answer woul be.... to get old bad shot , bushwacker and donny all together for a little waterboarding party. It's OK now ..... they made it legal.
If donny really needs a new "attack" in order to get us back-in-line he should talk to Asref above..... I am sure he knows just the right people.

Dear Asref,
I wrote back to this same comment in another article. As I was transcribing some of the conversation, Rumsfeld said "MUSLIMS" about a 100 times, "TERRORISTS" Zero times. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off and I can only imagine what you may be feeling.
I am not a Muslim, but please realize that maybe its a little rare, but there are those of us Individuals (yes, I am American, although I view that as a trivial detail) who are very serious about defending liberty against injustice anywhere. Speaking for myself, "Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere" - MLK Jr. is a principle, not a cute rhyme.
And everyone, please take the comment at the end seriously and As always, unlike the NFL, the author grants full permission to allow any accounts of, rebroadcasts, retransmissions, repostings in part or full of this article to your blog or anywhere else in order to promote the Restoration of our Republic.
And thumbs up are really cool if you like what I wrote. It only takes a second to click. I had to listen to that hour-long conversation for several hours to find just SOME of the more radical stuff said and to transcribe it correctly.

"This President's pretty much a victim of success" - D. Rumsfeld
Is this guy for real? Bush is a VICTIM of success? On what planet, Jupiter? :-D

After living in DC and interning for the department of congress, I am sad to say the town is formually run by a bunch of old white men. Rumsfeld is in that group of Bushites who believe that they have some divine life mission to change the world as they see fit. Fortunately, DC is really run by a group of hardworking educated people of all races, most of whom do not agree with the current administration and their policies. I think Rumsfeld can say whatever he wants behind closed doors, most of us pretty much knew is war mongering views about the Middle East, but frankly - I am surprised at the DOD. Who at that organization authorized the release of such tape on a government website? His views of the world definitely do not represent me, nor is it prudent that information be released through such formal channels. The release of this recording is a distinct sign that times are changing. Four years ago such an audio file would have been shared internally and then hidden away; it releases signifies that people working for the government are not scared of the repercussions and hopefully they see a change in how the US is going to approach Iraq, Iran and the rest of the Middle East. May be I am eternal optimist. But, I know the government is filled with good people who are excited about a change.

Hi Jake:
There is an important information missing in your article: Donald Rumsfeld is a member of the infamous Council on Foreign Relations. As I mention in my Treason in America, behind almost every act of treason to this country you will find, hiding in the shadows, one or more CFR members.
Keep up the good job.
Servando.
