What is it that will allow the American voters to be so disappointed in both the Executive and Legislative Branch of their government yet clamor in large numbers to support one of three Senatorial Presidential Candidates? According to the figures provided on PollingReport.com our nation's top representative has an approval rating somewhere between 27 and 32%. PollingReport.com also shows us the numbers for our Congressional representatives, even worse as Sen. McCain alluded to this morning, at between 21 and 22%. It comes down to two main challenges, distrust over massive spending with little results that improve our lives and partisanship freeze.
The amount of news flowing from Washington D.C. provide little hope there will be any of the change so popular in the candidates' stump speeches. Ralph Forbes wrote an article, 151 Congressmen Derive Financial Profit From War, in which he lays out the case for why the war still persists. Rep. Chuck Rangel, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, stated yesterday the problem was not with the Democrats but from the lack of Republican leadership from the White House and Congress. In 2006 voters felt there was a great deal of truth in this so the Democrats were given majority status which they now claim is not enough to overcome the Republican influence. What they want this election year is super majority status and control of the Executive Branch, polls suggest they will get close.
Voters have largely rejected such Constitutional supporters as Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) who provided a straight message of returning to our roots to solve our most pressing problems. Although still in the race, garnering 16% of the Republican vote in the recent Pennsylvania Primary, he's still ignored by his party, the media, and too many people. His message is said to be revolutionary by supporters while being labeled a kook who is out of touch by pundits, the voters are listening more to the pundits than our own history at this point. Independent candidates and third-party candidates, such as Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin, are not yet allowed notice as we press forward with the Republican and Democrat dog and pony show being passed off as the 'choice' for the Presidential election. Ballot access is a key problem according to Jesse Ventura who says if he were given ballot access he would not only run for President, he'd win. I'm not so sure based on how strong the Democratic Party voter turnout has been.
We don't trust our current leadership, we don't believe their efforts will lead us to an improved life yet we don't reject the process or the two party dance we seem willing to endure. For the most part those we've elected to represent the people mainly stand in support of their party once in office. Our oligarchy holding the power in Congress won't allow for fresh voices to be heard, it is the nature of the structure we've allowed to take hold in Washington as well as most State Governments around the country. So, we may be upset today, the polls may continue to show our disapproval yet the one poll that counts the most, the elections, are likely to provide little of the change we claim to want. Are we a nation tied to these leaders through blood or have we become a nation more tied to them by being paid?

Gary! You're Back! And with a hum-dinger of an article, to boot! :)
Your observations are insightful as usual; yes, the criminal class (congress) is supported by those on the dole; yes, the two-party see-saw is the result of years of conditioned brainwashing; yes to virtually all you've said here. However (and call me a conspiracy nut if you must) I would attribute a significant portion of the "lack of enlightened votes" to pure, unadulterated vote fraud - through machines like Diebold, through back-room deals, through bought and paid for Secretaries of State as in New Hampshire, through internal party manipulations as in Louisiana.
Good to see you writing here again! :)

Hi Creator, yes...back as I can be. I've been so busy trying to prepare Liberty's Haven for our soft launch I've neglected my rantings... We are so close so we went ahead and started the soft launch which freed me for a few moments this morning and I just couldn't resist. (http://libertyshaven.com if you'd like to see what in the world I've been doing instead of writing artilces here...lol)
You have a point with some of the challenges in our voting system, no doubt. Still I feel the majority lies in the majority buying into the same ol' lies...awake yee voters, awake!
