NULLIFICATION
Nullification is the state's way of ignoring the federal government dictate. Nullification should only be used when legislation at the Federal level or a given policy goes against the United States Constitution particularly taking away the rights of the states. When this occurs the State legislatures may enact legislation or a policy of ignoring the federal government's dictate.
Given these times, the Federal Government has seen fit to adopt policies or enact legislation into law taking over what was once wholly within the purview of the state governments. This has weakened the state government and given even more power to the Federal Government.
One specific example is the Real ID Act. This policy would force the state governments to adopt a uniform system for driver's licenses. What is diabolical about this policy is that it establishes a National Identification System which is intended to violate our rights to privacy. It utilizes an RFID chip which provides anyone with a citizen's private information, including but not limited to their personal credit history, medical information, as well as other items. If implemented, and with NAFTA in place, any bureaucrat in Mexico or Canada can look into our record.
What can be done about this? Citizens need to demand that their state legislatures enact into law appropriate legislation to ignore these dictates by simply refusing to participate in such a program. This type of Federal policy clearly violates not only the United States Constitution, but the constitutions of the respective fifty states.
The Real ID Act is a policy that supposedly the states can join voluntarily. However, if the states refuse, by means of nullification, to ignore it the Federal government can impose restrictions on the states population. For example, not allow the citizens of that state to be able to travel by air since that mode of transportation is regulated by the Federal government. Other extremist measures may be used.
New Hampshire and others have either adopted such nullification legislation or are the process of doing so.
If we are to take back America to its Founding principles of Federalism, each of the states should have similar nullification taking place. If enough states got on board then the Federal government would then have to reconsider its position.
Finally another example of such an outrageous grab of power by the Federal government is the plan to establish a North American Union. It establishes an authority that would ignore Congress, our Courts and the Constitution and it would allow citizens from Mexico and Canada to freely come into the United States without any restrictions and even more importantly does away with our sovereignty.
This corrupt plan is being put together without consulting the citizens through some type of referendum. This would be another example of state legislatures adopting nullification.
