KISS: Keep It Seriously Simple

For Ron Paul supporters, lovers of liberty, and defenders of the Constitution we best KISS 'em or we'll lose our nation!

Our nation is on the brink of either completely abandoning the Constitutional experiment of a Federalist Republic or moving from the brink back to embracing what made us great. If you want to return to the Constitution it is high time you keep it seriously simple with those you talk with, KISS them or lose them.  Serious, for the purpose of this article, is unwavering in your convictions to defend the Constitution while not being overly professorial, rude or argumentative.  Remember the old sales formula; SW ~ SW ~ SW ~ N!  (Some will, some won't, so what, NEXT!)  We are looking for those that will and we can find them by keeping things simple.

The primary election campaigns have shown most voters in the U.S. are not grasping the message of liberty and freedom. Within the early campaigning there were a few who upheld their oath of office and stood in defense of the Constitution. On the Democratic ticket there were two, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel. On the Republican ticket there were three, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Ron Paul. Somewhere in between the Republican ticket also had Fred Thompson, who focused a lot of his message on the importance of Federalism, and Mike Huckabee, who at least ran on some conservative values while pressing for an elimination of the income tax and reduction in overall Federal level spending. The only two left are Governor Huckabee and Dr. Ron Paul, both of which are being handily restricted in media exposure while garnering less of the overall primary vote than Senator John McCain.

Senators Clinton, Obama, and McCain all are running with a message of more Federal control. The major differences are in the domestic and foreign policies presented. Senator McCain desires a long-term continuation of the interventionist approach to the global community while domestically he speaks of reducing spending (which he must work on to afford his war initiatives). He proposes no major changes in the way the country taxes its citizens and no major changes in our monetary system. Senators Clinton and Obama would end the war in Iraq yet have not clearly defined if their approach to foreign policy would be from an interventionist or non-interventionist position. However, clearly their desire is to increase the size of the Federal government while providing more government programs for citizens at increased costs. In other words, higher taxation combined with more social programs (like universal health care) mandated to the citizen. In addition each of these three remaining candidates will support any movement toward direct elections for all Federal offices which effectively ends the founding experiment of a Federalist Republic and replaces it, instead, with a direct democracy focused on strong national strength and weakened State and personal responsibility or power.

Changes that would return us to the intent of the 220 year old document that started the experiment are not being embraced by the population as a whole. Congressman Paul is the most adamant defender of the Constitution who truly understands the meaning of the Oath of Office yet his message resonates with roughly 7% of those casting votes for the Republican ticket (far less than that when considering the large Democratic turnout). Many who feel our country must return to a Federalist Republic or perish seem mostly to be at a frustrated loss why so many simply don't get the fact the Democratic and Republican leadership is moving us quickly into a democratic socialist country. It seems quite obvious yet the dangerous majority is overruling the minority while leaders offer their message of care and support simply.

Barack Obama is a great example of this simple approach. Attending his rally the audience is led through feel good, sound good words with an intermittent chant of "yes we can!" It feels good to be at an Obama rally and people are convinced his providing a fresh new direction for this country, and its good. Listen closely to all he is offering to attempt to hear what the audience is really chanting for; higher taxes, more Federal government welfare, more bureaucracy, less personal responsibility, and less freedom as an individual. Its not that his audiences are stupid, it's simply the message sounds good and is simply delivered.

Compare that to the message at a Ron Paul rally. The press was quick to pick up on his Congressional nickname, Dr. No. Those really grasping his message cheered wildly because they understood he was calling for less Federal government interference, less Federal taxation, more State power, and more personal responsibility, liberty, and freedom. Most, however, only heard things like the word "no" and "fiat money" (Isn't Fiat a car? Someone once asked me.). Try as he may to convince those outside his campaign for every no there was an excellent yes they weren't listening. Top that with frustrated supporters who lambasted others as stupid, sheeple, or worse and the great idea of liberty simply did not reach beyond those tuned to the sweet music it offers.

So here we are looking like it will be Clinton, Obama, or perhaps McCain moving into the White House. How can those of us who passionately understand the importance of liberty and desire our nation once again embrace our founder's vision succeed? It's time we apply the KISS principle, keep it seriously simple. The word serious is there because these are extremely serious times; our future is definitely at stake. We may survive four years of socialistic pressure from the White House but we will not survive four to eight years of both the Congress and the White House turned over to the Democratic or Republican leadership.

The first seriously simple step is to focus 2008, 2010, and 2012 on the Congressional races. Each year your local House Representative is going to be voted on and during this cycle each Senator will also be voted on. Encourage people to measure the candidates before casting their votes and then give them simple tools to measure with. Nothing too complex, nothing too long-winded, and something most can accept as a good measuring stick aside from any specific issue candidates and the media want us to focus on and divide over.

The very first measurement is the oath. It is a simple measurement for any candidate; do they understand and/or have they defended the U.S. Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic? Not their party platform, not the pie in the sky giveaway programs, the Constitution.  Are they in favor of a pure democracy where the majority rules over the minority? Do they promote more federal level involvement in your daily life (replacing capitalism with corporate welfare and/or socialism)?

A few simple questions to ask your friends and family might be; are you happy to give more in income taxation so you and your neighbors can get more from the federal government (since we are the government)? Do you understand, and support, the fact we borrow money to fund our federal government as our income tax dollars are merely tossed at the out-of-control interest on the debt? (Its like borrowing from one credit card to pay another every month...none ever get paid off and eventually the shell game ends in poverty). Is it better to be the bully or the strong friend bullies avoid

We don't need to be rude but we do need to be simple, direct, and unwavering! KISS them now or lose our Federal Republic.

Excellent, even INSPIRED article.

Utter and complete waste of time.

From what I've observed from the Libertarian party in past years, and most especially after the increased surge in "interest" in Ron Paul which is solely due to the internet and the rise of rapid media like YouTube, Libertarians and Objectivists almost delight in ultrarigid approaches to their beliefs. Jafre Fire Eater even wrote an article on how bluntly he cuts of any discussion that begins with typical "wiggle room" points -- an approach that is likely to piss people off and make sure they don't listen to YOUR message.

I publically made a boast that I'd hand Walt $1000 if Ron Paul cleared 20% of the delegates in the Republican Convention. (If he makes it that far). I didn't do that to be insulting but because I knew I'd never have to pay up. The approach taken by Libertarians is not KISS but "This is what's right, and this is the way it should be, so this is all we need to say".

One guy even told me "if the arguments in the revolutionary days were good enough for the People then, they're good enough now". I cannot begin to laugh hard enough at this lunacy.

Gary Wood hit it on the HEAD.  "(W)hat the audience is really chanting for; higher taxes, more Federal government welfare, more bureaucracy, less personal responsibility, and less freedom as an individual."   As long as you preach the opposite of that, to this worthless pack of cretins that pass for American citizens, you will LOSE and KEEP LOSING until some nut like McCain comes along and ARRESTS you all.

Isn't it time you people joined people like me, and just TOLD the people what was best for them, and DISMANTLED the government by taking over it and using it's size and power for something positive? No, becuase to you there is nothing good that government can do.

*shrugs* I'll visit you in jail when Furher McCain has taken his Imperial Throne.
