Pray For Liberty!

Ron Paul's leadership represents perhaps the best opportunity for the restoration of American liberty in our lifetime. Have you prayed for Dr. Paul today?

 SUPER TUESDAY

There's no denying that today is a very big day in the battle to take back our country. The outcome is far from certain, and at the end of the day things may look better, or worse, or still inconclusive. Therefore, today may also be a good opportunity to pause and consider how far we've come, where we're headed, and what lies behind these momentous events.Washington Prays At Valley Forge - Arnold Friberg - Courtesy, Wikipedia

How and why has Ron Paul made steady advances in the face of the disrespect of FOX, CNN, and others? Why is he doing so well at the polls despite the media blackout of his message and the smears and dishonor heaped on him from every quarter?

Could it be, at least in part, that people are praying? Now, I know that not all of you reading this are "believers" in the religious sense, but on the other hand I also know from personal contacts that many of Ron Paul's supporters are -- like Dr. Paul -- Christians of one flavor or another. Even if you are not a Christian, as a supporter of Ron Paul you probably have a strong belief in the ideas of individual freedom, liberty, and justice.

"God moves in a mysterious way." No, that's not from the bible, although William Cowper caught the sense of the God of the bible quite well. Could God be working by many and varied means to bring about a major change in our nation?

Throughout this election season I have often been reminded of how the God of Israel in His magnificent mercy and patience, time and again sent "Judges" to lead the people out of trouble and bondage of their own making.

I am reminded of Psalm 107, a song with five stanzas about God's compassionate dealings with His people. Each of the five choruses tells the same story, with different details. I hope that this paraphrase representing the common themes of the five stanzas of that Psalm inspires you to read the whole thing:

God's people get carelessly complacent.
They screw up royally!
They are in deep trouble of their own making.
They cry out desperately to God!
God graciously rescues them.

We Americans have had a parallel experience. By ignoring the incremental encroachment of evil on our watch, we have allowed our beloved country to fall to a new low and we are now in mortal peril of destruction. To me, the hope that remains is that in days past, God has rescued His people, again and again, even though they have not deserved it!

I am also reminded that when Abraham prayed for Sodom, God expressed a willingness to not destroy it even if a vanishingly small remnant of righteous citizens were to be found.

My prayer has been and continues to be that perhaps God, in His mercy, may see fit to once again restore the United States of America to again be a nation of liberty, and that He might do so under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Ron Paul.

You may personally be too young to vote. Possibly you are a foreigner who is looking on with concern about America's influence in the world. Maybe you are a resident here, working towards citizenship and you feel frustrated that you cannot yet participate in the elective process. You can still pray!

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - II Chronicles 7:14

Please join with me today in praying for a restoration of  Liberty in America!

Instead of praying, have you ever thought of canvassing/donating/calling/voting for Ron Paul? Trust me, it would be much more effective at getting him into office.

Dear existentialist,

As a matter of fact -- and you can verify this if you simply follow the link and read the many other articles in my column -- I have always and all along been of the mindset: "Praise the LORD and pass the ammunition!"

Evidently you, on the other hand, have not thought of praying before today, and so I'm glad you stopped by and took the time to comment. It has been my experience that most "pray-ers" like myself are already out there, sleeves rolled up, doing the work. I hope some of you "non-prayers" will contemplate reciprocating by adding "prayer" to your personal arsenels. :)

Thanks for your comment! :)

"We got to pray just to make it today."-MC Hammer

Uh, what Ron Paul needs is for the invisible man in the sky to quit endorcing Obama and Huckabee. How many damn Christians are in this stupid race? None of these people are atheists. Religion has promoted so much stupidity. I mean seriously Ron Paul never had a chance after his 9/11 comments, that now you guys have been worshiping his every move. He has only 16% support I mean he has absolutely no chance. So you want an invisible Statist in the sky to perform a miracle and let a semi libertarian win? Get over it libertarianism is not that popular. The president does not have that much power. Ron Paul would have been less effective than Jimmy Carter who tried to save government spending by cutting off all the thermostats and wearing sweaters. Do we really need that kind of efficiency again? Ron Paul is not an effective politician and the voters were not convinced. We need to focus on local and state elections if we want to win. This whole top down mentality is really disturbing.

Forgot to tell EXISTENTIALIST that I'm also a Precinct Leader going door-to-door.  I did this for 3 years for St. Patrick's Church in Cave Junction, until we were stopped by liberals and dissenters from Traditionalism.  But now going door-to-door for Dr. Ron Paul is a joy and a pleasure - we are at the Post Offices too!!

I prayed that whoever won the election would do the best they could for America, and that those who didn't vote would be given an episode in their lives to reinforce the importance of voting.
